I have hidradentis, which causes boils generally in glandular areas. Mine manifests most in my vaginal/buttock region.

I have been getting small pimples inside my labia. When I went to the dermatologist she said it is possible that it could be Crohns and not the Hidradenitis.

Has anyone else experienced this?

I get small abscesses there constantly. Sometimes they go away with sitz baths and antibiotics, sometimes they require surgical drainage. Either way, it hurts and is so uncomfortable to deal with. My colorectal has mentioned that the cause may be hormones, as I tend to get more abscesses around my period. I'm considering trying out some birth control to see if that may help.

I've had a Mirena in since January 2012. I don't think that is it. I went off Humira in March so I'm thinking it probably IS Hidradentis but wanted to find out what these Lesions were that the dermatologist mentioned.

I know that other medical conditions can cause lesions in that area - specifically, Behcet's can do that. Behcet's is pretty rare and some doctors know nothing about it, so you may have to do a bit of research yourself before asking your doctor about it (probably best to do some research yourself anyway to see if it sounds similar to your symptoms).

What is the connection between going off humira in March and the probable hidradentis?

I have almost the same symptoms and time frame.

Humira helps Hidradenitis - it is occasionally prescribed for dermatology issues such as Hidradenitis and Psoriasis.

I knew it was prescribed for psoriasis, but it actually gave me psoriasis. It's so bad, what do you do?

I clean the anal area with hibiclens and I use alcohol pads and antibiotic lotion for the vaginal area.

I've recently been put on antibiotics and probiotics. They seem to be helping.

I'm considering moving to Cimzia if all my combined ailments don't improve over the next couple of months.

I'm the same as most with auto-immune disease. . . try this, try that, etc. I'm am putting some of my eggs in the MM basket. I'm in MA and MM is slowly coming to fruition. Dispensaries will open next year. My own testing has confirmed that good MM allows me to completely stop my Asacol. Maybe, with regular use and correct dosing, it can help all of the diseases associated with Crohns.

I thought I was the only one...
I never obtained an official diagnosis for this, but my ob/gyn prescribed a cream for it. Betamethasone Valerate. I don't use it often because I find that my ulcerations go away in a couple days on their own, but when I have more than one I use the schmear a couple times a day and that usually takes care of it.
