please help really scared

well i have not been diagnosed with anything and dont want to be a hypochondriac but im really worried about myself...... i wrote some of my symptoms on another website and people with chrons were pointing at chrons disease.......that is why i am posting here. Since i was about 16 i remember having trouble with my bowels, sitting in class having really embaressing noisey bowels and runing to the toilet but never thought anything of it. now i am 26 and have had blood in my stools its only happened around 4 times and this morning again which has made me scared. Usually every day i have the runs especially in the morning and after i have ate something. The last few months i have been living off mainly one main meal a day as i am having extreme nausea when i wake being worse (ps im not pregnant even tho it sounds it). I have lost my appetite and when i do eat i am dry heaving and have been sick before. I feel like every day is a struggle as i have no energy to do anything and everything is a chore. I am on a waiting list to see a gastro doctor in the mean time i have anti nausea tabs which dont seem to be working........i can cope with everything but the nausea and not being able to eat. does any1 have any tips for this? am i worrying over nothing? thanks

Might be the last thing you want to hear, but.. try to relax :). It certainly could be crohn's, but it could also be a handful of other things. Even so, the good news is that you're getting checked out, meaning things will improve! Blood in your stool means that something is likely going on. You'll likely get a colonoscopy to find out what exactly.
In the meantime, i'd ask your GP for something stronger to treat the nausea. I get this really bad myself and often struggle to force food down. There are meds out there that can help though, probably a few that a quite a bit stronger than what you have. I find drinking Ensure/Boost, or something like it, helps me get the calories I need. The lack of energy and stuff is likely due to loss of blood (if you're bleeding a lot, or over a long period of time) and from being undernourished. The Ensure will help get your body what it needs. If it makes you nauseated also, try drinking it slowly, over a period of time.

Hope this is somewhat helpful!
Michael

Hi Shelly and welcome to the family. I know how scared you must be feeling. But you're definitely not alone. There are many here on this forum that are waiting for an answer to their suffering, just as you are. We have a fabulous Undiagnosed Club that you may find comfort in. http://www.crohnsforum.com/forumdisplay.php?f=75

It certainly sounds as though Crohn's is a possibility, but as Michael mentioned, it could be any of a number of things. How long do you have to wait for your GI appointment? I hope it isn't long. If so, could you get to a different GI faster?

In the meantime, you may find it helpful to browse through our Enteral Nutrition forum. http://www.crohnsforum.com/forumdisplay.php?f=161

I might also recommend keeping a food diary to see if there is a specific food or group fo foods that make you feel worse.

I hope you are feeling better :) I love this forum but sometimes over looking can freak you out more. I make myself smoothies with rice milk and that seems to stay down. I use a good one from whole foods. I also went to the doctor and she told me she thought I was depressed and my answer to her was OF course im depressed im sick all the time. She put me on cymbelata and ability i feel so much better and my energy is sky rocked oh and I also take a small dose of predisone 7mg I think It really has helped thats my experience hope you feel better soon

Hi Shelly. Welcome to the forum. We have all been where you are now. Crohns is a possibility, but Michael is right, it could be something else. I was going to suggest ensure or boost to help you get nutrients down. I also think getting your dr to prescribe a higher dose anti-nausea would be a good idea. Then start the tests, and get a dr. that will pursue it until you know what is going on. This forum is a great source of information and support.
