Hi all,

I have been mostly absent from the forum recently for a number of reasons. The primary one right now is because my father is very, very sick.

he has finally been hospitalised for treatment of his pneumonia, which has been dragging on since Christmas. he is looking pretty good at the moment (lots of drugs) but the problem is that the reason he has had such a battle with this is because he has lymphoma and basically has no immune system left. It is all a bit of a shock as he was diagnosed in 2004 with a potential lymphoma but cleared last year - they said he didn't have it and it was likely a misdiagnosis,

However, now, he has pretty much 90% of his bone marrow taken over by this thing and we really don't know what the future holds right now, except it is likley to be quite a short one.

I have pretty much fallen to pieces in the past couple of days. My dad is my best friend and the most important person in the world to me. I am obviously concerned about getting sick myself and not being able to take care of him as much as I would like.

I suppose all I am asking for here is for as much healing energy to be sent this way as possible. There are so very many of you and every prayer/healing thought counts and helps very much.

So, could you please, please send some this way, over to New Zealand to help my father and myself get through this painful time?

He does a mean St.Nick impression I bet! Is that him with a grandson? The only thing that could make a man happier than beautiful kids is super cute grandkids :)

Shaz, I am sending every ounce of prayers I have to your dad. You will also be in my thoughts. A daughter's love for her father is a very special thing and I can see it in your smile and his that you guys have it all.

Thanks so much everyone. I truly appreciate it. He is looking really good today and giving the nurses a hard time, which means he is feeling more like himself.
Yes I do look just like him, Pen. I've never known if that was a good thing or not!!! Dad is quite well known in town and I have had people I've never met come up and ask me if I am his daughter!

he looks a really lovely Dad. so sorry for you and your family, having to go through this harrowing time.

i'm sending my very best wishes, and wishing you and him strength to get through this. i know what this kind of thing feels like Shaz, in some ways it's surreal, and in others it feels only too real. be strong, and take support from whatever direction it comes.

Good Morning Shaz, You and your dad are in my thoughts on this rainy morning in mass. To repeat what some of the others have, he does have very gentle kind eyes. I am sure he beams with pride each time he sees the wonderful lady he has raised!

Thanks so very much everyone, this has brought me to tears - not that it takes much at the moment! Yes he does have kind eyes, my Dad really is one in a million and I am very blessed to have such a close relationship with him. I plan to make the most of every precious second of time we have with him :)

There are successful treatments these days for some types of lymphoma.
Hopefully your Dad may benefit from one of them.

Dad is home now!!!!!!!! he responded really well to the treatment for the pneumonia and now just has to take tablets at home. My brother is here til tomorrow afternoon so I am making the most of today to have a nap and get some things done at home.

But please keep the love coming, we have a long way to go!

Ooh, and Bruscar - no worries on that. I allow myself to lose it when I'm not with dad :)
 
We're all right here with you, Hon. I will be sending both Janis and my love and prayers to our Kiwi sister and Dad. You make sure you take care of yourself also. Dad can't have you getting run down to.

Thanks again everyone. He's in great form at the moment and I am forcing myself to make the best of it as we don't know how long it will last. Although no-one even knows do they?
Now that he's a lot better I feel I have a LOT of sleep to catch up on!
