Is it possible to flare on Prednisone? Also, is every flare the same in terms of symptoms, or can new symptoms develope as new flares come on?
Thanks

It is possible to flare on pred. For me I got a stomach bug and that set the downward spiral.

I can't answer the last two. I find my flares are the same every time, but that's just me.

Oh, yes I'm flaring on pred right now-sucks. No, every flare isn't necessarily the same. The flare I started pred to control was in the ileum and caused nausea, vomitting, diarrhea, fever, and lots of pain in the stomach, as well as acid reflux. Now I am flaring in the low bowel/rectal area and it's causing low back pain, bleeding, extreme pain using the restroom, and a fistula to open. Don'tcha just love this disease?:ymad:

Yea, last time I had a flare up I was on 10mg of pred and all the other meds I have listed in my signature. The doctor said it was because the Imuran had not built up enough in my system yet. Well, come to find out it was caused by taking NyQuil liquid. Never again!

Ohhhh....NyQuil?? Wow, I have found that in this past 6 months if I try to use NyQuil I have a terrible couple of days following use. Interesting!! I try to stay away from that stuff too!

Definitely possible. I developed colitis (undifferentiated) while on 35 mg of prednisone for another autoimmune disease, I had started on 50mg 6 months previous and was slowly tappereing, when out of the blue developed colitis.
