I have to go in for pre admission testing next Monday before my first resection surgery on the 22nd and was just wondering what these tests consist of?

Usually it is a history, blood work, general physical stuff like blood presure etc...and to ask about allergies (which they will ask you about again before the surgery!).....

Also, if you are a female, they will do a pregnancy test usually too.....

Matt attended a pre admission clinic and he was given a green sheet that listed 12 options. I assume the surgeon was the one that indicated what he wanted tested. The clinic was combination of tests and administrative procedures and gathering information. Matt's visit included...

ECG
Chest X-Ray
Blood Tests
Registration
Nurse - gathered medical history
Clinical Nurse - took BP, Pulse, Temp, weight, height etc
Case Manager - spoke about his what to expect about his stay in hospital
Registrar - spoke about his operation and examined him
Anaesthetist - spoke about what to expect in theatre and examined him

This would also have been where he would have seen the stoma nurse if he was going to require one.

Generally you fill out a fair bit of paperwork as well before attending.
