Hi, I'm new here. I know that Crohn's can cause delayed puberty in adolescence. I am 20 years old and I am very thin and flat as a board. I have basically no breast development and my periods are really screwed up. My mom got hers when she was 12. I know that you are. Is usually based off of the women in your family like your mother. I feel like I never developed properly because I have always been malnourished, Especially when I should have been going through puberty. Does anyone else have this problem? And is there anything I can do about it at this point? thank you for any and all answers and advice :)

Might try seeing an endocrinologist
They would be better able to do the right testing to determine if anything can be fixed or improved
I know our Gi clinic for Ds watches puberty closely and refers them to endo if things aren't moving they way it should

I'm very underweight now, but even at a normal weight I didn't need to bother with a bra. Mr chicken's suggestion is a good one - an endocrinologist can determine whether you have not gone through a normal puberty or whether you naturally have small breasts. Endocrine conditions can cause problems affecting puberty in ways that malnourishment cannot. I saw an endocrinologist, he did blood tests, did a physical examination. I have hormone problems but they're not related to Crohn's or malnutrition.

It is a good idea to get your hormones tested soon, as irregular periods can be associated with other problems, such as infertility and poor bone density. Also keep your weight healthy, if anything try and be slightly overweight so you have some "spare" when you have Crohn's flares.
