Hello all

This is my first post I'm new to this forum and just looking for some advice. At the age of 12,I began to have irregular BM with blood and sometimes mucous, I went to the doctor one time and was diagnosed with what he believed to be proctitis. I was scheduled to have a follow up apt but my mother was an abusive drug addict who told me she would never take me back to find out more about it because it was disgusting and a waste of time. So from 12-15 I would go from a period of remission to some pretty bad flare ups. But then from 15 until today(now 24 years old) my flare ups were all very mild, sometimes diarrhea with blood and a little urgency, sometimes just gas and blood and sometimes mild tenesmus with constipation and pain passing with blood. I've never taken medicine for my flare ups cuz when I was finally 18 and away from my mom I had no medical and knew I could never afford it, and although my flares are annoying, they're tolerable. Two years ago I was admitted to the ER for broken bones and was told I was slightly anemic. Well here we are two years later I'm in the midst of a flare that's been going on six months with the usual bleeding, with moderate constipation ( 1 BM every 2 sometimes 3 days) an
difficulty passing. After reading through others posts I have a few concerns/questions. The first is, is it unusual to have such minor flare ups, and am I potentially causing more harm to myself by not using medication? And since I was told I was slight anemic I kno I've lost more blood and my anemia is bad enough to give me shortness of breath and tire easily. If I keep losing slow amounts of blood and my anemia gets severe could it be dangerous?,I'm in the process of getting state medical but its still unsure on when I will accepted but if its a life threatening I won't let the outrageous prices keep me from checkin into the emergency room. Sorry this post was so long I'm new at this. If u read the whole thing and have some advice I greatly appreciate it.

Proctitis is inflammation of the rectum. If inflammation of any part of the colon is left untreated for long periods of time, you are putting yourself at a higher risk of cancer than the average adult.

Sweetheart you've been sick far too long without meds. and support. The longer you leave it the worse it will be.Proctitis is usually easily treatable, but like all I.B.D.is unpleasant and embarrassing. The sooner you get to the docs the better, for your peace of mind if nothing else.Best Wishes.

I know I need to see a doctor Its just the money issue stopping me. Im also unfortunate enough to suffer from some mental illnesses and was hospitalized 6 times last year due to psychotic episodes and now owe the hospital 30,000 from that alone. I know i cant afford a colonoscopy and whatever else with the medication in addition to the psych meds. Its just so frustrating trying to get medical insurance. Does anyone know if UC is worthy of emergency Medical? And I read that proctitis does not increase ur risk of cancer. Is this not true? For having this disease for so long im very uneducated on it im very happy and excited to find this Forum. Thank you all so much for your advice and concerns, theyre greatly appreciated

I don't understand the U.S. medi care system, being a Brit, but as this forum is predominately American,I'm sure some-one will be along soon with advice.Search the threads, because I'm sure this sort of thing has been discussed before.Be well
