Hello all,

I am looking for some guidance, advice, references, stories, anything really!

I am 22 years old diagnosed with RA. I am currently taking the infusion Remicade every 8 weeks.

In January I am hoping to leave the US to travel through Australia for a year.

Does anyone have any idea how I can continue getting this infusion? Where to go? What insurance I should be looking at?

I feel so lost and overwhelmed I don't even know where to start.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Emily

I would start with my private insurance company that you have right now. See with them what they can offer while you are away.

Hey Emily! I am hoping to go to AUS for a year in June. Have UC, am 23 and need Remicade every 6 weeks. I was wondering if you have found out any useful info? If so, could you share? I am just beginning my research on how to get remicade abroad!

Thank you!
Natalie

I live in the UK and get Remicade through the NHS. I wanted to go travelling to Australia at some point as well so I looked into it as I need it every 6 weeks. Unfortunately even though The United Kingdom/Australia have a reciprocal health agreement this doesn't include Remicade as its too expensive a treatment. I however don't know if health insurance companies would pay for it, didn't look that far into it as I don't need health insurance in general. I would obviously be interested in anyway of getting the treatment whilst down under :D
