Repeat surgery after only 12 days

hi, as most can probably tell, i'm new here. my girlfriend's sister has crohn's disease, and came out of surgery just 12 days ago, only to be sent back into surgery due to internal bleeding. her mother is obviously very worried, so i'm searching for a few leads on how to get her the best treatment within reason.

i feel the need to ask for second opinions, because of the fact that a hospital based in a major metropolis managed to allow her to suffer for 12 days, while leaving her family in the dark, only to send her right back into surgery. something tells me that searching for a proper specialist, rather than trusting hospital administration (in the most corrupt province in Canada), is a better idea.

i'm looking for help in the Eastern Canada area, any tips?

I can tell you that it's not uncommon to have surgery soon after you just had it. I did 7 days after because my resection failed and was leaking so they had to go back in to fix it. If they would not have done this I could have died. With crohns sometimes thats just part of it. Sorry she is going through this.

ahh that takes a load off the mind though, when you think about it. if its commonplace for 'touch-up' surgeries, it does make it seem less -- unprofessional, if you will.

i do realize that a hospital is the best bet in a situation like this, but i'm hoping for alternative paths to take, considering a general hospital is.. well.. a general one. i'm going to check out a few places that specialize is crohn's complications (this forum being a good start).
