I am having very sharp pain under the right side of my chest. I am concerned because the liver and lung is here and I have had elevated liver enzymes in my blood tests from time to time.

The pain is so bad I can barely walk or move. I'm hoping this is simply a pulled muscle and goes away, otherwise I think if this doesn't stop ill need to see urgent care.

Any ideas what this is about?

I don't want to get involved in all the x-rays and scans for nothing. It might be muscle pain. I need to see what happens. I don't think it's close enough to my heart to be of concern but the pain is radiating to my back.

I agree with the others.. Dont ignore chest pain, its better to be safe.. Please get yourself checked out... Good luck :)

I took some extra strength Tylenol and its more manageable. I don't have other symptoms so I want to wait it out. If I get a fever or chills ill need to go to the ER.

Aspartame

That is a sweetner. The reason why I asked was I was calcium citrate for months and one day started having chest pains, pains in my arm, a lump in my throat etc. I was so concerned I went to emerg afraid I was having heart problems. Everything was normal. After some research, I read calcium citrate could cause those symptoms. I stopped taking it and in a couple of days, the pains were gone. Have not experienced since and that was late 2011.

Has the pain gone away at all? I had pain in the same spot, turned out to be my pancreas, but it was more spasmodic, but it definitely radiated to my back. But I have also seen a lot of members lately with gall bladder issues. Not sure what the symptoms are of gall stones are things like that are.

It's calcium aspartame. I was going to switch to citrate but that sounds pretty scary.

I am still in just as much pain but don't have the accompanying symptoms of fevers, chills, nausea. I think as long as its just pain and nothing else I'm hoping its just a pulled muscle. I can't stand straight either one shoulder is like two inches taller than the other.

I didn't have any other symptoms when I had Pancreatitis, just really bad spasms. Not saying thats what is up with you, but problems don't always come with other symptoms. Can you call your GI or GP and see if they can get you in today or atleast give you advice on the phone?

I didn't even consider the pancreas. I was thinking liver or gallbladder. My doctors wouldn't be able to see me today but could probably squeeze me in if it still is happening once the week begins.

Can the pancreas inflame from crohns?

Calcium aspartate, perhaps? Aspartame is an artificial sweetener.

OMG! Praying for you right now! :( Hang in there.

Yes, it can. Unofficially mine inflamed from Asacol HD, but my GI said it could of been from Crohn's aswell

Ok, you can get a type of autoimmune pancreatitis, which is sometimes linked to Crohn's, or some times not (my sister had it - also coeliacs - not at all fun). Then there's gall bladder, liver as you suggested, possibly even kidneys. Lots of important stuff in that spot.

I'm sorry, but every advanced first aid I've done (and there've been a lot) has said either that if you are in enough pain in your chest area to be not able to walk properly for any length of time (and your first post was what - 24 hours ago?), or if it is chest pain that is radiating, you need to go to emergency.

You've got both, and whilst I hate emergency myself (is there a small private hospital you can go to?), its the sensible thing to do. Whatever your decision, I'll hope it turns out to be nothing major for you, and the worst thing that happens is you waste some time on some X-rays :)

I know I should go I'm being resistant since I hate it there and don't want to go through tests. I swear though if its going on tomorrow I'm going to my doctor who may send me to the ER anyway.

I know it's a pain going to the doctor/hospital but I think you know what you have to do.
Intense chest pain whether is on the right or left side should always be checked out. I have been to the ER twice in the last two years with chest pain and am glad that I went, if only for the reassurance.
Take care and let us know what happens.

How are you feeling now? Is it chest pain or is it below your rib cage? Just making sure I am understanding correctly. Have you checked all dangerous side effects of your meds? Thats usually the first thing I do with new pains

It's moved to the left as well but neither is nearly as sharp. It also hurts when I poke which makes me think its muscle. I don't think it's a side effect from my meds.

I have been stubborn enough. I'm seeing my doctor today. I'm not screaming in pain like over the weekend but I'm still in a decent amount of pain and its worth checking it out even for peace of mind.

My Gallblader stones symptoms.....Started in right side. You feel like is one of your ribs. pain to the touch. some times your tummy. some times throwing up after eating. You feel better after you throw up. Pain in your chest, your back. It can go on for months. Until I felt my chest was being crush by two big trucks. Emergency surgery. bye bye gallblader.
