Short bowel syndrome a result of surgery?

I am new to forum. I had bowel resection surgery 4 months ago and not recovering well. Significant weight loss and LOTS of diarrhea and painful gas still. Dr figures it is short bowel or SIBO. Getting very depressed.Anyone out there have this outcome following surgery or is it true, I am one in 3 million?

How much bowel did they resect? You have to have pretty significant bowel taken out for short bowel syndrome.
