Ok so let me start of by saying my 16 year old son has Crohn's he has been doing well until yesterday he wasn't feeling good very sleepy and weak stomach was bothering him a little and today he was in a lot of pain I thought ok he is just having a flare. But now he said it hurts him so bad he said its like a 10 (my son has a high pain tolerance so he must be in a lot of pain) he said it like comes in waves also he has thrown up about four times. He said he tried going to the bathroom but he could only get a little out and there was blood. This has never happened before I'm like freaking out I don't know what to do :sign0085:

I would go, mostly because he is rating the pain so high. Can you get him to a children's hospital?

Mehita the closest children's hospital is like a 30 minute drive I don't think it would be a good idea to drive that long. I think I'm going to call his GI and go from there. Thank you :)

ER for sure. The doctors there can contact his GI and have all test results sent to them. Sounds like he may be having symptoms of a partial blockage, hopefully not a full one. The blood alone I would go in for personally especially if its a new symptom (for me the bleeding was bad so I stay on top of it if I ever see it). They'll run tests on him when you get there to figure out what's going on. Let us know how it goes and good luck. :)

Call GI and ER! Pain that bad and vomiting with little bowel movement? Best to be checked for blockage issues.

Good luck keep us posted.

If your asking self should go to hospital then go.

My daughter refused to go to hospital with her last severe pain episode (she was only 6). Her GI has told her she must go to hospital if she feels pain like that again and have the hospital ring her.

Did you get a hold of anyone Jordyn? I hope you're on your way to the hospital. Blockages are serious and can be deadly.

Jennifer I have not gotten in touch with anyone but we are going to take him to the ER as soon as my mom gets here to watch my other kids. I really hope it's not a blockage.
Thank you :)

Please post when you can. I hope all is ok. When you said hospital is 30 min away...I thought that most times it takes that long to get a dr to return a call. So glad you're heading to hospital.

Still in the ER. He is doing better :) they have him on morphine for the pain they just took a CT scan and some blood work so hopefully we will know soon. Doctor thinks its a blockage I really hope it's not he was doing so good

Thank y"all so much :)

At least you know you're in the right place!! If it turns out to be a blockage, catching that early is best. Sounds like that is what you did!! Hang in there :)

Doctor said its a small bowl obstruction they had to admit him they have him on some more IV fluids now he is feeling somewhat better :) the doctor said they don't think he is going to need surgery but if he doesn't get better within a few days most likely will need surgery. They just put in a nasogastric (NG) tube in it looked horrible :( I really hope he gets better and wont need surgery (praying for him)

Thank y"all so much :)

Are they going to be giving him IV steroids? I was in the hospital a couple weeks ago from a partial obstruction and they kept me for a few days. The IV steroids (Solu-Medrol) helped a lot as it was mainly inflammation at my resection site. They did a regular x-ray every morning to check for a mass but it was gone practically overnight. I hope its just inflammation that they can bring down quickly. *HUGS* Take care and thank you for updating. :)

I'm glad he is in good hands and they were able to find the problem quickly. I hope he gets better soon!

Sorry for the late reply Jordyn. :ghug:

It is good to hear you took him to the ER and he is being well looked after. :)

It was severe pain and vomiting that sent me scurrying to the hospital with my daughter. I hope your boy responds well to treatment and can avoid surgery. Good luck!

What a scary experience. Glad they took you serious at the hospital and are getting things looked after. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Just thought I update y"all. He is doing so much better this morning doctors took a x ray the NG tube seems to be doing its job so I'm hopping it will keep doing his job so happy he is doing better :)
Thank y"all so much :) appreciate all the support

Wow! So sorry all this is happening and just when you were saying he was doing so well. You must not have spun around and spit three times or made your offering to the Crohns Gods. Darn Crohns:voodoo::voodoo::voodoo:

How is it a person can appear to be sailing along and then BAM obstruction? It is no wonder we all live in a constant state of paranoia.

Glad he is doing well. Hope you get sprung soon and that he continues to do well!

I'm praying for you guys too. So happy to read that he's doing better. That's a good sign that things are going in the right direction. What a scare!! You were so smart to jump to action!! Your son is in good hands with such a great, fast thinking mom :)

Oh man!

Prayers headed your way for your son, you, and your family! Glad he's feeling better! Keep us updated!

Just wanted to let y"all know he was discharged today and is doing so much better :dog:
