Does anyone else find the sitz basin very uncomfortable? I'm a skinny guy but my butt feels squeezed and my back hurts. Is there a secret position to being comfortable on this thing?

I need to do this several times a day while draining so I don't want to keep filling the bath tub.

It's been many years since I've had to use one, however, maybe an inflatable ring to place on top could help?

Mine is also sitting over the whole toilet I'm not sure. Is that what that inflatable ring thing is for? Maybe ill try that and just fill it up high with water.

The inflatable ring is good for a lot of purposes. You will have to fill up the water further, however you can also not have ring fully inflated. Should help to keep the pressure off the bum region. I have used, and now I just might try again, for when in "flare" up I feel tremendous pressure there as well. I, also, am not a heavy person.

Nothing inflatable on mine miss its just a standard bin. I always see those inflatable circle seats next to them and think they are for a kid to go in the pool. I know they are really for a medical purpose but had no clue what for.

hope u find a more comfy way to use it. I tend to use my heating pad over the tub . No fussing around needed with that.

I'm not sure I understand what you mean by heating pad over the tub? That sounds like an electrical problem waiting to happen.

LOL!! Please don't mix the two. :p
I should have been more clear. I prefer the pad instead of the tub. But, mixing the two would give you bigger things to worry about.

I fill mine up to the top and let the thing overflow. It's more comfortable for me that way.

You can always just fill a bathtub up to about hip height (when you are sitting in it) and soak that way.

The bath would be more comfortable minus the getting in and out part right now. The only thing is I don't have the energy to disinfect the bath whereas the basin just needs a Lysol wipe. Last thing I want is to infect the raw open wound and get another infection. Ugh hate Crohn's.

When I was using a Sitz I would fill it to the max and try to zone out. I read many magazines to keep my mind off while Sitzing.

Good Luck

Oh! I have an answer for this! It's undignified, OF COURSE. Dignity is for the healthy.

I recently went searching for an alternative to a sitz bath. My mom found what turned out to be a kitty litter tray (!), but which is just the right size for me to fill and sit in. It's not super comfortable, but at least it's not on the toilet. I'm suuuuper thin, but think a large catbox (ugh) would fit a lot of people. You can also just seek out an all-purpose shallow plastic bucket/tray at Target or The Container Store or something: filling that is way easier than a whole tub.
