Ok does anyone else have a skin tag right on their butt hole? I have read it is normal with Crohn's patients. I also have two anal fissures. The skin tag just bothers me. It bothers me when I wipe and just knowing that it is their. Is there a way to get rid of it? I have read things on the internet about tying floss around it to cut off the blood flow and it will eventually fall off. Is this safe??

Hi, I have Crohn's and I also have a couple of skin tags around my bottom! They are very common in Crohn's...in fact they were the first thing that alerted my doctor to the fact that I could have Crohn's. I also have a small fistulae (which happened after a fissure). Yes they are pretty annoying arn't they, especially when going to the toilet. I would recommend you keep some baby wipes handy which help to keep the area clean and also try and use a shower to wash down below when you can. In terms of removing them I wouldn't touch them! One of the problems with Crohns is that things don't heal very well down there and by trying to 'cut' them off with floss or whatever you could make things a lot worse. I know know my consultant has said unless things get really bad he is reluctant to touch my 'Crohns bottom' as he calls it!

I hope that helps :)

Do NOT try to remove it! I, like Catattack, was diagnosed because of my skin tags and fissures. The GI surgeon (who is known for ALWAYS recommend surgery) took one look and said with Crohn's there is no way I'm touching that because surgery will almost always cause more harm than good. It's not the greatest feeling to have them but hopefully nobody goes on a search mission down there so hopefully you will cope with the issue eventually. Sending support your way!

Thanks guys! I mean I guess I can learn to live with them. It's not like my husband cares or thinks I'm unattractive. I just don't like the idea of something being there that is in the way. Makes me feel abnormal.
