I'm so very tired yet I can't sleep. Yesterday I had to wake up at 8:30 to go paint the lines on a soccer field with my dad which we ended up leaving at 10:30/11. Painting the lines took 4 hours of hard work in 100 degree weather. I was about to pass out in the afternoon but I decided not to sleep because if I did sleep then I wouldn't have slept at all last night. Today I have been busy all day. Then around 6 I passed out got a call to help a friend so I did that. Now I'm exhausted yet my body just doesn't want to go to sleep. It doesn't help that I have songs stuck in my head and a million ideas.

Well, that's my rant for the time being. I can't sleep and I need to be up in less than 5 hours.

Take care, I hope you all are okay

Jeff

Hey Jeff, as a chronic insomniac myself, all I can say is yeah, I understand!!! I've always had trouble shutting my mind down for sleep. I can't watch exciting sports or do anything that ups my adrenaline right before bed either!! I think I must have been very wealthy in a past life or something and was able to nap during the day!! Oh well, 5-6 hours of broken sleep has always got me by. I just go with it!! Good luck!!

Hi Jeff,
Ask your doc for some Ambien. That is some good stuff. I like the regular, not the extended release version. The extended makes me groggy in the morning.

Jeff, my daughter was just like you. Last year she lived on something to help her sleep. Her mind was going a mile a min, never did much outside her room and was not socialable. She worked on a golf course all summer and was up at 5am, her body got used to that time and she works the place of two guys so she was exhausted when she got home. Now she knows to keep the time up or set her alarm to be up early. She loves the morning and she used to be a night owl. She has a 10 min walk to the University so she will keep up her walking, break dancing and will be playing her guitar. She does a sleep therapy at night and she says it works. Took her a year to turn herself around but she did it so far. She tries not to have to much idol time. Big difference is she is not ill and aware of our family full of IBD. Her studies keep her busy, she drools in class because she loves the Biomolectular classes, has alot of physic and calculus.. don't where I found her... :hang: I know about keeping a song in your head. Mine was oops it is gone, can't remember it! LOL. You will be fine, you can do this!!

Hey Buddy - sorry to hear about your sleep issues. I had sleep problems before the surgery and used Ambien cr 6.25 (the cr 12.5 makes me groggy the next day) or as joe suggested used the regular Ambien.
Another way one can use once in a while!! is a small dose of Diazapen (<2.5mg). When I had too much on my mind that is the only thing that worked for me.

Thanks guys. I just have a lot on my mind right now. I'm going to begin the application process to go to seminary very soon and it's getting me a bit excited and nervous.haha Next year will be a lot of changes and I'm just thinking about that. I'm also in the middle of learning and writing several songs and sometimes they get all put together and it hurts my head and keeps me up. I'm really hoping it gets cooler here so I can go hiking soon as that will help me a lot in my sleep.

Peace guys and thanks for all the support,

Jeff

LOL DEX Perhaps you lived in Spain in a past life and had a siesta every day to recharge your batteries. Thinking of you Jeff xxx

I like melatonin. They say you shouldnt mix it with immunosuppressants but I dont care. I do anyway. I dont need it often.

Have you tried giving yourself an hour of "down time" before you try to go to sleep? Just an hour of reading, meditating or doing nothing?

My son CANNOT play video games for at least an hour before bed. If he does, he's sure to have trouble sleeping. Since we instituted reading time before bed - no issues.

They say that gifted minds have trouble slowing down enough to sleep. Maybe you're just too smart to sleep!

Good luck - Amy

Thanks guys.

Lydia, I have found melatonin to be futile in helping me sleep. In Anatomy last year the teacher said that our bodies don't actually digest the melatonin very well so it's not the best idea to take it.

Amy, I say prayers for an hour before I go to bed. haha, I don't think it's true that I'm very smart, in fact I'm pretty ignorant on a lot of things.lol

Morning Jeff

Hope you finally got some sleep this morning...I know what you mean about the heat..I'm not too far from 'bama...live up close to the "land of the delta blues"...hope you have a great day and get some time to relax...good luck with seminary .

Jerry
