My hubby has tried smoothies but seems to get bad pain after. Has anyone had pain on smoothies and was juicing better? Thx

smoothies keep all the fibers in. During flares, reduced amount of fibers is encouraged. So juicing is the best option during a flare because it takes away most of the fibers in fruits n veggies. your hubby may also be reactive to some specific raw foods. raw foods can be harder to digest than cooked foods.

Also if you are putting nuts or seeds in the smoothies those can cause pain to the inflamed area and get stuck in the inflamed tissue.

Thx for the replies. Even if I mill the seeds to powder first would it cause issues? I wondered that about the fibres still being in the smoothie thx. I think I'll be buying a juicer. He drank half the smoothie and was in pain. It's so scary because we have no clue what he can eat but he needs food still. So frustrating!

if you buy a juicer, i would highly recommend a juice extractor (cold press extraction) They are more expensive, but they preserve way more vitamins and antioxydants than the regular juicers. Brands such as Omega Extractor or Infinity Press by Moulinex are good options (I have both) and are about 300$. Moulinex comes on sale at 150$ at Canadian Tires occasionaly, but dont know how often.
