So my wife wants to go to Finland

Finland is BEAUTIFUL!.....I've been there 3 times - in fact my Mother is from there and I have relative spread about.....

Is there a particular place/area she wants to visit? Helsinki is nice, so is the countryside.....and yes, English is spoken by most people there.....

She has some pen pals out there. She would love to do Helsinki and a few of the small towns and country side
I dont really remember which specific places she mentioned. The only areas ive seen are the rual areas they use for the WRC.
Oh and she wants to be there during Ruisrock

I've never been to Europe. My maternal grandfather was from Norway. My mother has been over there for a family reunion. It's beautiful country, and mom claims it's similar to Alaska. Have a great time.

We stayed in Finland for ten days. It really is beautiful. One of my best friends is Finnish. It's a very beautiful country. We stayed in Kuopio and took the train to Tampere Airport. There are lakes everywhere and beautiful tall pinetrees. We went in July and witnessed the midnight sun which is very disconcerting. Go for a swim in the lakes and have a sauna. The lakes are freezing! We're of to the Norweigan Fjords this summer.

My mother went there last summer with my aunt and a couple cousins. They had a wonderful time! They visited relatives near Helsinki and then made their way into Lapland: they visted Rovaneimi (home of Santa and his reindeer!) where there were more relatives, then they visited the area around Ruka-a ski resort area.
They went to spread some the ashes of my cousin who had spent time living in Finland and teaching at a school near Ruka.

She had a hard time adjusting to the constant daylight, it made it hard to sleep. Some of the food took getting used to as well, but overall they had a wonderful time. She wants to go back sometime soon and get my dad to go with them this time.

I believe she used a lot of websites to find attractions, visitfinland.com is one I just googled for names of some of the places they visited.

were planning to save for 3 years then go for as long as we can afford. im unemployed right now though so idk if that 3 year goal is for sure or not.
