I've just done a search, and "sore throat" comes up in many posts and threads. Not sure where to add, so I thought I'd start a new one. (mods, please feel free to move this)

I am about to embark on my 4th remicade treatment, but for the last month and a half have been noticing a sore raw throat off and on,mostly at night. I had originally thought it was the combination of air conditioning and ceiling fan, but now I'm not so sure. Last night I was cold, hot, achy, sweaty, but not feverish, along with the sore throat. The aches were similar to what I went through in January with my last flare.

Is this something related to my remicade treatments, or should I be concerned that the Crohn's is settling into my esophigus. I also wonder if I've been fighting a cold the last month and a half, but my immune system isn't as strong as it was?

Any thoughts (other than see my specialist as I will be doing that hopefully in August) would be much appreciated.

I would get checked for strep also....I had it TWICE in about 2 months last spring.....after not having it for years......

from February to July i had a sore throat. I blamed lots of things (heart burn, sores) finally went to my GP. He did a strep test but since i am on humira he said we tend to present differently and may have a more minor infection that sticks around. So he gave me anti-biotics and it got better.

Last year or two years ago this a happen in a similar way. i had a sore throat my rheumatologist gave me a blood test to see if i had an infection and did a strep test. strep test came back negtive but the blood test came back postive.

ask your doc if could be a minor infection that is sticking around or if there is another test like a blood test. I hope its not a esophigus sore. those are really painful and intrestinlgly often bring fevers and cold like symptoms even in people with out crohn/uc

Currently my Crohn's is in total remission. I had an emergency re-section [my first and hopefully last] in '08. Boy was that rough especially since I had not one but two operations in two weeks! Now I able to eat all foods with no symptoms. Hurrah! However recently I have been having a nagging scratchiness [off and on] in my throat on my left side. At first I thought it might be related to the surgical tube from my most recent malady to hit me congential aortic valve disease in which I had a replacement AMV inserted. My question is to Outlier about the esophagial sore scenario. Can these result from a surgical tube insertion/removal? To those others experiencing the sore/scratchy throat has your GI checked and found Crohn's in this area and what are your symptoms? I can't seem to find anything on the web regarding this topic.

i have no idea. I would imagine it could because i know cankersores can form where a injury to your mouth has happened but i have not had any tubes (thank god).

Crohn's can be any where in your digestive system. I know they can take a biopsy from canker sores but they are unlikly to be conclusive. I found the entire prospect so unappealing and so useless that i said no.
Good luck
