Hey guys I've been getting these weirs sores on the corners of my mouth.
The weird thing about these sores is sometimes they're very sore and feel like a small ulcers with craters others times they feel like scratches. the weird thing is they appear sometimes from nowhere in the middle of the day and can go away just as fast or linger for a few days.

My doc says oh it's just the crohn's and they are a result of what's going on in my gut.

But could they be from a certain food causing a small flare or something else if anyone has had anything similar I'd appreciate some advice/treatment or if anyone has anything similar happening.

They're an extraintestinal manifestation of your Crohn's, not strictly a *result* of what's going on in your gut, but rather another site of activity. I have them often and they don't respond to any of the creams or gels that are sold for mouth ulcers. One thing I've found that does work is a lip balm made by Apicare from UMF 16+ manuka honey and beeswax. It's made here (NZ) but I'm pretty sure you can get it in health shops there and in chemist shops that keep a good range of natural remedies. Plenty of online pharmacies here have it, too. Here's their web page about the lip balms: http://www.apicare.co.nz/products/revive-me-beeswax-lip-balm/
Oh, I just noticed that Apicare sells direct online, too. Didn't know that.:ybatty:

I get them from the MTX. I take folic acid 3 * a week to counter them, it helps just about immediately!

I had this problem many years ago, but don't get it any more. I would get a sore in the corner of my mouth and it would crack and go crusty. It usually lasted a few weeks then went away without treatment. It is interesting other people also suffer with this.

Ozboz do you get eczema, acne like skin breakouts on other areas of your body as well?

I'm afraid what your'e experiencing is not a symptom of a "crohn's flare", but instead potentially systemic bacterial or fungal overgrowth. As I write this I have a similar sore like pain in one corner of my lips. In my experience skin manifestations like these usually occur with the over-consumption of carbs/sugars/high FODMAP foods...which encourage bacterial/fungal overgrowth issues.

The canker sores in the corners of the lip are a sign for my kid she is starting a flare. When the candida comes about its normally from too long on prednisone or cipro/flagyl. Once she came off methotrexate she hasn't had a candida reaction. What meds are you on?

I find taking probiotics during antibiotics help reduce candida if that's the case.

I get them on the inside of my nose quite often and they hurt like hell!

They are a form of herpes and us cronnies are more likely to get them due to the meds we take and silly immune system
Speak with you GP and ask for Aciclovir.

Aciclovir is used to treat certain types of viral infections such as cold sores, shingles and chickenpox.
Aciclovir can help to stop infections from getting worse and can also help to reduce the chances of an infection returning. It is sometimes used to prevent infections in people who are at greater risk of getting infections because their immune systems are not working properly.
Other information about Aciclovir:
if you are taking Aciclovir to treat an infection it is best to start using it as soon as possible after the symptoms appear
you should drink plenty of water while taking Aciclovir

I've had soars in the corners of my lips for years never thought of asking the GI Doc about them. And I guess there hidden well with the stash I have been wearing forever lol. But are these soars/cracks white in color for some of you or is it just me?
