I have recently been told that if a fistula I have doesn't heal within a couple of weeks that I am going to end up with a resection and stoma. In my heart, I know this stupid thing isn't going to heal so I'm learning about ostomies. Is it true that I am going to have to wear some special underwear? Or will I be able to wear my normal underwear?

Oh God no!! Wear your regular underwear! Myself I wear boyshorts, and just put my bag over them. I also have some high waisted panties that I wear sometimes and tuck the bag into them. Nothing special about either of them. Either just wear them under, or over your bag. Whatever feels best for you.

' special underwear? ' no thanks lol... people with a stoma usually find that underwear is best either low cut- i.e. under the stoma or high waisted to go over the stoma. something in between may be uncomfortable but definatley no special underwear needed lol.

fire away with your questions janny74! we are happy to help! :)

No special underwear for me either. I wear mid briefs that come to below the stoma and my bag is out over the top.

No special undies here either.
Low slung boxer shorts - which is what I have always worn.
Bag over the top, and sometimes tucked in to my jeans.

Regular undies and bag out
One-size too big jeans bag tucked in, regular jeans bag out with awesome long hippy chick shirts
