Tried Cimzia and no results. I am trying Remicade tomorrow. Does the amount of benedryl they give you enough to make you sleep? Or just for the reaction?

Just want to prepare myself.

I get Benedryl as well and I get very sleepy. I actually am not allowed to drive aftewards. I am very sensitve to medications that "may cause drowsiness" taking them ususally means I am out like a light.

I actually fall alseep during the infusion about 20 minutes after getting the benedryl.

So drink lots of water in the am so you have good veins for the IV and maybe make sure you have a ride home for this first one until you know how sleepy you'll get from the Benedryl.

Good Luck!!

Yeah it is usually enough to make you really tired, long drips like that have a way of making me tired in general. Like Kllyeve suggested, a nap during works great! Did the other medication work for you at all?

No not at all. Unfortunately the Cimzia had no apparent change. I did however start Mezalamine enemas and surprisingly they seem to be working very well.

Been on the for 5 days now and it's only gotten better. Hopefully the Remicade is the nail in the UC coffin.

I REALLY need to get off of prednisone.

Yeah I was referring to the enemas (We were talking about them in the previous post) Glad to hear they are giving you a small amount of relief, I know they worked wonders for me when I was able to use them. I am in the same boat down to 10mg of Prednisone and drop another 5 this weekend. I can't wait until its done 2 more weeks. Let us know how things go with the Remicade .

Here we go.

Hope all is going well....I get benadryl and while it makes me sleepy while I am there, by about an hour before I'm done I'm wide awake ...and drive myself home (an hour)....

Just had my 3rd infusion! Keeping my fingers crossed that it continues to work! My disease is still active but so much more under control !

How do you feel...? The remix add took me at least 2 weeks to start feeling any change, best of luck!

I will say, it was an easy process. I was in and out in about 4 hours total. The benedryl did knock me out for a bit but by the end I was fine.

I am actually already feeling better I think. Haha

Let's put it this way... I released gas and nothing else. A far cry from the few months. It might be the enemas working well but either way I am looking forward to seeing what the next few weeks hold. :D

Positive mind can take you far, now go live your life! I hope things continue to go well for you

So the second day after Remicade and I am... Seemingly a little constipated haha. I am still trying to let my body figure it out but it has drastically changed.

Will keep you up to date as it progresses. :p

It does work that fast for some people!! Lucky you!!

Don't be surprised if you feel a little flu-like for the next couple of days, it is quite common. I also had headaches after the first couple of infusions.

hey just wondering how you have been doing? I am going to have my first infusion of this drug on monday morning, bleeding was not being brought under control by steroids with last few years. finally decided to try this so I am booked in for monday morning 9.30 am!

So I am on my second round. As of right now, you would think I don't even have UC. It's been that good for me so far. I felt change the next day however everyone has different results.

Thanks for the update will let you know how i get on next week, good too i hope.

Update: since I have been doing so well on Remicade doc decided to have me start tapering off of Prednisone 10mg per week. I am at the end of 20mg week and last night blood came back full force.

Today I had the urge of a bm but only drops of blood. No diarrhea yet but worried its gonna be a flare again.

Any idea what's going on? Do I need to taper slower like 5mg per week instead of 10? Anyone having good results on remicade experience this?

It's probably not a new flare but the same one. What medications are you on? When is your next Remicade infusion and doctor appointment?

Calling doc about it tomorrow. Currently at 20mg prednisone and next infusion isn't until Oct 4th. Will be 3rd loading dose. I also take 4 Lialda nightly.

I assume he will have me go to 30mg for a week or 2 and start tapering by 5mg/day this time, but we will see.

sorry to hear you have started to flare or are having to same one , was the bleeding there before you started the remicade and was still on prednisone?

Yes bad bleeding even while on 40mg of prednisone. That's why we went to remicade. However today no blood. So not sure what that little bit was the other night.

I will keep you posted.

Hopefully it was just a once off. I only recently started as you know aswell and my consultant told me not to get alarmed if there was blood. Hopefully it will settle completely after the next one. I am tapering at the moment too with pred, down to 20mg tomorrow, they were doing me no good either.

Update

So I am down to 10mg of prednisone. Things are going well. Remicade seems to be holding up to the flares.

I have been tapering slowly over the last month, hopefully I will be able to get down to 5mg next week.
