surgery on Monday... terrified!

So after being on prednisone and pentasa for 2 months following my hospital stay, the surgeon is finally on the same page with my GI... there is no change and surgery is the best option. I go in Monday morning for a laproscopic right hemilectomy (sorry bout spelling) possible open conversion... I am terrified! This is the first surgery I have ever had. Has anyone had this same surgery? What can I expect? The surgeon feels confident that he can do it laproscopic and not have to completely cut me open, the only way he will do so is if there is more infection than what the CT is showing... any advise, insight and or moral boosters are welcome!

My understanding is that they are going to take a portion of my small intestine and a small portion of my colon.... has anyone had something similar?

Hey Daisy,

Roo had a Right Hemicolectomy 4 years ago. In her case she a small portion of her large bowel removed and a large part of her small bowel but bear in mind her situation was out of control so that's why she a large amount of small bowel removed. Her surgery was an emergency so it was the open version for her. Even though her bowel had perforated and she was in a real mess she had an uneventful post op period and has now been in remission for 4 and 1/2 years.

Good luck! :)
