swollen lymph nodes

a few weeks ago the lymph node on the right side of my neck was swollen, painful, and tender. i didn't notice when it went away, but today i discovered that the node on the left side of my left neck (right under my ear) is swollen.

Does this happen to anyone else? and what does it mean?

remicade....

i'm going to google it when i get home today. but i want to know if this has happened to other crohnies!

Do you have a sore throat? Mine has hurt since my second remicade infusion the middle of September, going on two months now.

Miss

Yep I get swollen lymph nodes just below my ear intermittently but have always had them due to sinus and ear problems too so never think much about it. They come and they go..

In relation to the remicade it could just be a response by your body as the lymph system is in conjunction with defence of the body so could just be something as simple as that.

Mention it to your GI next time or if concerned or if it gets worse go see your GP to put your mind at rest. Better to know the probable cause as worry uneccessarily eh?

i found a website that says it could be caused by autoimmune conditions like lupus and RA. i have active joint inflammation right now, so that could be it.

i will definitely be mentioning it at my next appointment, though!

Does anyone else have any experience with this? I have a similar situation to what was mentioned. The lymph node (my assumption) under my right ear had been swollen for several months. Then it went away and now the one under my left ear is swollen. I also have a soreness under my left armpit, but I can't feel anything there. I know that swollen lymph nodes are a sign of inflammation, but I was wondering if this is a common experience with Crohn's? I don't want to be paranoid, but my grandmother died of cancer of the lymph nodes, so I just get a little concerned.

I sometimes had swelling on my neck and less commonly under my armpits. Anytime I asked doctors about it they usually gave me the standard "come back if things get worse line" they use when they have no idea what is going on ;)

They always went away on their own, and never caused me any trouble that I know of other than discomfort .

Thanks for your response, Wiles. I never mentioned it to my doctor because that was kind of the response I expected to get. Kind of funny how you get to the point that you know what your doctor is going to say before you even bring things up...if only we could order our own tests and prescribe our own meds...we'd probably all be better off!

I started having sore throats after remicade (started it in January, 8-week doses), but nothing too major until this past week. I woke up with a pretty sore throat and figured it was a lesson learned because i had gone to sleep w/o brushing my teeth. But then I felt sore under my left jaw, and a day later, I got a fever with chills. 2 days later, I have a runny, congested (not to mention swollen) nose, and got another fever reaching 100.6. I've been taking tylenol for the headaches and won't hear from my GI until Monday. Basically, I've spent the whole weekend wondering if I should go to the E.R. and if my next injection will be postponed so that I can see my GI and get this infection cleared up :-/
