For those of you in the UK, channel 4 has been running a series called The Food Hospital, and next week's episode features a girl with Crohn's Disease. I think the aim of the show is to demonstrate the role diet plays in controlling medical problems

I've no idea what the show is going to be about in regards to Crohn's, but it might be interesting and it'll be on next Tuesday on Channel 4 at 8pm.

I think I'll watch :)

'The food hospital' - Chrohn's Special - 15/11/11

Hello all,

I am Emma Nand and I am a new member to this website and hope you dont mind me joining because I personally dont have Crohn's disease. However my younger sister Laura Nand does. I have a great understanding about this condition and have a brilliant bond with my sister, and so have joined because of her and my family. I stumbled across your website through a google search and wanted to confirm what this episode of 'The Food Hospital' is all about:-

Laura is going to be on this Tuesdays episode of 'The food hospital' and has been chosen to share her experiences about living with the condition.
You are quite right the programme follows her and her relationship with food and how food can effect her condition, in both a positive and negative way.
Laura began filming for this back in May and even through those short summer months she has gone through alot, as she has since she was diagnosed with Crohns aged 13. (she is now 22).
I hope you all enjoy the programme and find my sisters story intresting and perhaps of some benifit to you all....

I'll be watching too, just set my reminder.

And welcome Emma, we love to hear from the family members of our fellow crohnies, Your sister is very lucky to have you in her life, I have two sisters but they don't get involved that much. How is Laura doing? can't wait to see her story.

To Gwen and Co...

Thank you for making me feel so very welcome. I have been dipping into this website throughout the day and the information and stories make for very positive and thougt provoking reading.

I am unsure if my sister is a member of your webpage (I assume not as I would have thought she would have made some sort of comment about her appearence on the programme before?. I shall be seeing her tomorrow so will pass on the details of this website, which I am sure she will be swift to join upto if shes not currently linked)

Laura is doing ok at present. Her flare up from the summer months has cleared up alot, although some scarring of the skin is still visable from her burn like abbrations. She is still active in her passion for Dance, although only part time as a graduate from September 2010 work is hard to find.
Based up in Wallsall she works as and when and is currently working for a few projects including the '28th trampoline and tumbling world championships' to be held in Birminghams indoor arena. She is working on a 'Dance' routine for the opening ceremony. She is very excited and greatfull for such an opporunity.

I am so very proud of her for not letting her condition 'beat her' as even in her bleakest days, when she has only an ounze of energy and is feeling very low she still always does her best.

In Tuesdays episode I am sure you will see a variety of sides to my sister, and that her talents and courage shine over and beyond her troubles. We have not seen the final draft of the episode (We were all unable to go to London on the preview date) but I am sure it will be intresting guidance to a very confusing and very variable condition. I really hope that it gives people who do not know what Crohns is a basic understanding of this nasty condition, which my sister often refers to as "A disability that people often cant see but that sufferers have to fight against and live with every day of their lives". Moreover I am sure it will unite people currently diagnosed and living with Cronhs, and hopefully reinforce the fact that even though life may be dam right hard at times you can try and win every battle that comes with this dreadfull condition.

Just from seeing the brief trailers from the episode your sister's story looks heartbreaking and before you even posted I was hoping that The Food Hospital would be able to help relieve her suffering.

It'd good to know she has such a supportive sister and I really hope that being a aprt of the programme was beneficial to your sister and that she is doing much better now xx

Thank you Em

I watched last nights programme and saw the clip of Laura for next weeks episode.
My heart just went out to her, poor love, with horrendous mouth ulcers and she was so upset.
I hope Laura finds us and joins us too, and you're just lovely Em for looking out for her and being her support system. You're always welcome here Em, for anything.
Lotsa luv to you both

I stumbled upon this programme last night by pure accident. Was worth a watch although I missed the first 20 mins.

When the clip came up at the end with Laura, my wife immediately commented "I take it you'll be watchin that", you bet I will. Should be interesting to watch how laura gets on and see if they can help shine some new light on the topic and give us a few more good idea's.

Good luck Emma and send your sister our regrards, we'll all be rooting for her next week

The diet.... which you'll get to learn about on Tuesday (and i'll be happy to discuss lots more about it with you all if you want after tuesday's episode) REALLY does work, and is extremely helpful to me now, totally helped me put on wieght, keep energy levels high, stopped bad flare-ups, and stopped the every day occurance of painful bloating/D****** etc
