I feel like we need to spread some positivity. We have a lot of negativity in our lives, no doubt, but let's focus on the good in here. Who has some good news to share? It can be something big or small. Let's get some positivity flowing!

I'll start! I just had my performance review at work. I took a lot of sick days last year and I feel like I've been struggling lately. My boss didn't see it that way though, she gave me a glowing review. That felt really good! I thought I was blowing it but she felt that I am rocking it. There's a raise and hopefully a promotion in my near future! :D I got such a boost from hearing that.

Who else has something positive to share?

Another new year and no crohns problems. There was a time I was not sure if that was going to happen.

Congrats on the performance reveiw. Glad you did well. A pat on the back never hurt anyone.

Dan

Hey so glad you are doing so well. Hoping it stays that way . Keep up keeping well. ☺💕

What a great idea, Cat, thank you. And what terrific news about your job.

I found out tonight, I am baby sitting my 3 mo. old grandson, the next two days. With so much going on lately, and so many changes, this is a wonderful escape.

I am also excited about getting the J-pouch. Honestly, this has been terrific. And its had a huge impact on my family and my friends. My third daughter's boyfriend called me last night. He has tummy issues. He has IBS, but I am thinking IBD-constipation. The reason he called me is, to tell me that he has been so happy lately and finally figured out why. In the back of his mind, he has always been worried about his health - his tummy. (His dad had undiagnosed IBD, and he died of colon cancer in his early 40's.) He has seen all the things I have done and tried and experimented with, and has tried a few things on his own. BUT - he never knew about ileostomies, and J-pouches - any types of treatment, other than drugs. He said that he feels like a weight has been lifted off his shoulders as he is hopeful with his future health. I was so taken aback, lol. He was so serious, and happy. AND he is going to make an appointment with my GI.

Pretty great stuff. Thanks again for starting this thread!

A new bit of good news for today - my boss had her performance review with her boss (the company president) today, and apparently they talked about me for something like half the time. In a good way! Apparently the company president spoke very glowingly about me as well. That's wonderful! It's good to know the company president thinks so highly of me!

And, I went ice skating today! My abdomen and anus have both been feeling unwell today (hemorrhoids, ugh) but I decided to go ice skating on my lunch break anyway. I didn't fall, I had a good time, and I actually feel much better now! There's less pain and my mood is lifted. I'm so glad I went! :)

Oh Cat that is brilliant news hun, you are a legend. I am so pleased you are getting the recognition you surely deserve. Big old softy that I am, I have a tear in my eye because I am so chuffed for you.
Glad you enjoyed the ice skating hun. Hope you keep well n happy. Hugs and love. ☺💖😘

I had my every 2 year colonoscopy yesterday. I don't have the labs back yet, but other than some scaring, my GI said things look pretty good. I also had a new (for me) prep: Prepopik. I have to say it was the least horrible prep I ever had.

Probably close to thirty inches.
Wow, even for snowy Northeast Ohio (which is having a very non-snowy year), that is a heck of a lot of snow for one storm. Aren't we right around the anniversary of the big blizzard of 1978 - I really remember that one.

I was out in the middle of it at one point and it wiped me out physically .

I was on call for work last night (I work as an xray tech in a rural hospital) I was talking with the Dr working about all of my crohns issues (new fistula developing and a microperforation) and how i had been in the ER at our sister/bigger hospital. He couldn't believe I was working and told me I must be one tough gal. So that made me feel pretty good. Sometimes you feel like you're being such a baby but then the Dr talks about how that's a really painful thing to be going through, this is my first fistula and first perf of any sort. Really i've had flares but that's it for complications. I haven't missed a full day of work since all of this started.

Some good news for me today. I have a migraine! :)

Some backstory - in 2014 I had labyrinthitis. That's inflammation of the inner ear, which causes terrible vertigo. It was horrendous. There were times that I couldn't move at all without vomiting, couldn't take myself to the bathroom, couldn't eat, couldn't even open my eyes. Things like driving a car or taking a shower were completely out of the question for weeks. When I was finally able to walk again, I had to walk with a cane for awhile. It was absolutely horrendous and it debilitated me far worse than IBD ever has. I never want to go through that again.

So in 2014, when it started, it began with 2 days of mild dizziness and just feeling "off", and after those 2 days then the vertigo hit me full-force. Fast forward to this week - I was dizzy the last 2 days and felt "off". I was panicking! It really felt very similar to what happened in 2014 and I so desperately did not want a repeat of that experience. Fortunately, this morning I woke up to find that I have a pounding sinus migraine. No vertigo! It must have just been the sinus pressure building up in my ears and that was making me dizzy, and it culminated in a migraine. So yeah, my head is killing me, and I couldn't be happier about it! :D

So glad it was jyst the migraine but ouch !! . I forgot to take my tablets today oh so aching now . What a clot i am. Good news is i think i might live 😆 lol x

Great idea for a thread! Good news for me lately would be - My husband and I booked tickets to go to India in May. After 2 loooooong years, we are going to see our families. It was traumatic for us and for our families when hubby was diagnosed with Crohn's and they couldnt do anything about it being thousands of miles away. Looking forward to being pampered for a month with mommy and daddy :D

Great news.

I can understand, given the backstory, but you are probably still the only person in history to be thankful for a migraine.

I am sure you're right! :p And hey, I found another thing to be thankful for - my migraines don't really respond to medication, but they do respond (somewhat) to chocolate. :D Taking the edge off of the pain by eating chocolate? That's a win-win. Ha ha.

Cat, my wife used to get migraines. If she didn't have one, chocolate would cause one. If she did though , the chocolate would cure it.

"No really, I only ate that entire chocolate cake for medical reasons. Look, I even have a prescription from my doctor."

I have something a little similar with my sinus problems, and often caffeine really helps them.

caffeine is a big cause of most of my headaches. We go some nights without a lot of sleep because of work and having a little one so caffeine has always been a necessity. It's tough because I'm on a liquid diet right now and the only caffeine I get is from my green tea. But at least my caffeine dependency will be gone right? right?

Oh Ron nice one . Hope they are comfy ..
Iv got a sore throat n feel rough. The good news is im putting a holiday form in today. So hopefully i'll get 9 days off . ☺

I have some good news. For a couple weeks now I've been working on a frustrating, tedious project at work involving budget numbers for my company. Multiple people have given me what they think the budget #s are/should be, but nothing matches up like it should - one person's numbers don't match what the other person is saying, etc. And at least one colleague tried to make it sound like this is all my fault (it totally is not). I was ready to tear my hair out this morning, it's just gotten ridiculous. FINALLY, this afternoon, we got the numbers to match up! I almost cried from happiness and relief.

Also, I have tickets to see improv comedy tomorrow night. That's usually quite funny and I'm so ready to have some good laughs! I can't wait!

that sounds like a lot of fun Cat! I told my husband I wanted to get out of the house and go for a walk tonight. lol. Sad but I'm really looking forward to it. I'm at work now.. But I don't see the sun ever when I'm at work

Hope you really enjoy your walk hun. I love walks . Have a lovely chilled stroll. ☺💕

Earlier this week, I was able to come across a sale and buy a pair of boots and a pair of shoes for what I would spend for just a pair of shoes.

I bought a pair of zip up boots for one thing. I have a tendency, when wearing shoes to tie them to the side do it is nice to have the zipper.

JaimeM, I hope you have a nice walk! I'm going to have a walk tomorrow myself, it's supposed to be sunny and warm-ish (upper 30s F) so I'm taking my dog for a nice walk. :)

Ron, I love bargains! But I agree with Mandy, slip on shoes are the best. I love my slip-ons with memory foam cushioning inside, they are my favorite shoes. So comfy!

I didn't think my son and his grandfather had a close relationship. Saturday, I told NY son that his grandfather was getting worse physically and mentally. He said oh no which meant a lot to me.

Aw Ron thats nice for you to hear. We dont have to be close as such to love and care for someone. As that proved. Hugs 💕

I have great news :) My husband had an MRI last weekend to check how things are going. Dr said colon and ileal inflammation is fully resolved, fistular tracts look a lot better now and he is in remission :) This is like a breath of fresh air to us after a long time. Fingers crossed everything continues to go well. I hope all of you feel better too! :)

Our son is coming for a visit on March 7th.He hasn't been home for six years.
I started cycling a couple of weeks ago after many, many years absence.I'm really enjoying it.Now if I could only get the gears right !!!

Cupid has been busy. Yesterday while on FB, a strange (attractive) woman showed a sudden interest in me. She shared the religious preferences in my profile and wanted to know more about me. I can't help but be a little cautious about this. She is twenty+ years younger than me and halfway across the US continent. It got as far as a request for a video chat but I was unable to get it to work - my computer isn't old and I'm hardly a novice with these things. I had to give up after an hour and had chores to finish before bed, so I told her I would be glad to chat another time. Never had an encounter like that. Woah...

A whole bunch of little bits of good news today. My hubby has needed a better job for a long time now (he's been working part-time but his hours are terrible, his boss didn't give him any hours at all for 2 weeks and now he's working one shift per week which is ridiculous). Well, he's been looking for a better job with full-time hours, but he hasn't had any interviews in a long time. But when it rains, it pours - he had one job interview yesterday and has 2 more today! I know there's no guarantee that he'll get any of these jobs that he's interviewing for, but just the fact that he's suddenly got multiple interviews, it feels like good progress. I'm cautiously optimistic.

Also, it's Friday, I'm going to my happy place this evening (the gym, ha ha), I'm doing reasonably well lately health-wise, I have a lovely dinner planned for after the gym, and the weather feels like springtime today. It's a bunch of little things but it's all good! :) Now if my hubby could just snag one of these jobs, I'd be extremely happy!

Glad to hear it guys.

I'm really excited to be going to Mayo Clinic on Tuesday. I have a hard stretch of work the next four days but it'll be all worth the week off I'll have to go there.

Best of luck guys hope all goes well ☺
Christi well done hun, congratulations, hope you can enjoy the new job, and keep your self well ye!!, and happy days to you all. love n hugs 💕💕Mandy:drink:

My husband officially got a job! :D He had a few interviews the other week, and he got a letter accepting him for one of the jobs and asking if he can start on March 14th. This is fantastic news! It's full time hours Mon-Fri. I also work full-time Mon-Fri so this means we'll still have weekends off together.

Also, I go to Japan at the end of this month!! I'm going with my mom, it'll be just the two of us, and we'll be there for 3 weeks. I'm slightly nervous, I hope my health issues play nice, and I also am worried about the language barrier (my mom and I do not speak/read Japanese - I know a handful of words & phrases but that's it). I'm sure we're going to get lost or get on the wrong train or something. But, it should be a really fun adventure too! And I do know how to say the most important phrase of all - "Toire wa doko desu ka?" (Where is the bathroom?). ;)

Hey cat thats awesome news. So so pleased for you both☺☺. Your trip to japan will be just great as you know how to ask for the bathroom your on a winner girl.
Hope you have a wonderful time and your health plays nicely for you.
Congratulations to your hubby. Hope he enjoys it n all goes well for him .
Love n best wishes 💕💕Mandy

You must be on cloud nine eh ? great news. You'll enjoy your holiday so much more.Don't worry to much about the language barrier as I'm sure Japan gets lots of tourists. The bathroom question is a good idea though. I really envy you your trip, especially with your Mom.I bet you have lots of laughs.

Two pieces of good news!

1. Had a crew come and clean up our back yard! All the overgrown shrubs and trees have been trimmed. All the weeds pulled. Dead bush removed. A tree branch that broke off during the winter cut up and taken away. Large dead branch in our cherry tree cut off and taken away, and the weed filled area on east side of the house had been prepared for planting! And best of all, I did not have to do it myself!

2. Getting new floors in our kitchen, dining room, and hallways. Replacing the poorly installed flooring in those rooms. I can hardly wait.

Someone down at the nursing home my dad is in took him under their wings and got six hundred dollars cut off his bill.

Congratulations on soon being a grandmother soon.

Congrats, Mandy! My brother lived with me for a year and a half and I was SO happy to get my home and my space back when he finally moved out. I turned his room into a guest bedroom and then it gradually turned into a home gym from there. I looooved getting my space and my peace & quiet back when he moved out, I bet you will love it too! :)

My hubby started his new full-time job today. Sounds like so far so good. It's a temporary job that ends the last week of May, but if he does good work then they'll likely bring him back to work on other projects, so this could lead to more permanent work. This is just a data entry job so it's not really in his field, it's just to pay the bills. He has had some interviews for jobs in his field (graphic design/art/animation), so we're hopeful about that. He had a job recruiter call him a few days ago and ask him to take a test in Photoshop, and he's very good at photoshop so we're pretty sure he aced that test. If he could get a permanent, full-time graphic design job, that would be great! But for now at least he's working full-time so I'm happy with that. He's actually working a bit more than full-time, too. In addition to this Mon-Fri full time job, he's kept his part-time job and will be working there on Sundays. Woo hoo, we might actually have a small bit of money for once! How crazy is that!

I got suspicious and broke off contact. Too good to be true and too many plot holes. Among other things, the impersonator claimed to be an RN but made zero inquiries about my health conditions when I told them I had crohns.

I did not reveal anything too personal. I never told them that I used to be married to a master manipulator and that I knew their tricks too well.

I found this article, very similar to my case. My suspicions were correct, it was a scam. Be careful out there.

I bought a house!! well i bought it a few weeks ago, but completed this week. Now, after living in 1 bed flat for ages, the girlfriend and I are moving into a 3 bedroom house... with a garden!! very exciting. People keep saying with the extra bedrooms it's time for babies, but as far as i'm concerned we have an office/games room, and a bedroom for the cat.

Congrats on the house, joss8! For what it's worth, my husband and I also own a 3-bedroom house and we don't have kids and aren't going to have kids. One bedroom is for us, one is a guest bedroom/home gym, and the 3rd (very small) bedroom is where I keep my craft supplies and sewing machines. (The hubby also has a games room in the basement.) Just because you have the space for kids doesn't mean you automatically have to have kids. I know myself, and kids are just not for me. I dislike babies, and the thought of pregnancy sounds like the least fun time ever, and I really enjoy things like sleeping in and having quiet time to myself. I have nieces & nephews and that's enough for me, those kids tire me out after about 15 minutes. I see no reason to have children of my own. So, enjoy your new home and don't let people pressure you into doing things that you might not necessarily want. Have fun with the games room and the bedroom for your cat! :)

I will be starting Humira next week. I just got a call from the specialty pharmacy that my first two doses would be for free.:).
