So tomorrow i get to see my Dr. for the first time. Alittle background I went to hospital in alot of pain, high fever, diarrhea and vomiting. I spent a week in the hospital and after being released, i got a phone call from my Dr office telling me i had crohn's. Now its been 3 and half weeks since i found out i had it, and trying to learn as much as i can. since i dont know how much time i will get with the Dr. tomorrow, i'm working on a list of questions to ask her. So if anyone has an good questions for my please let me know. Thx!

I'm currently on pentsas 500mg eight times a day and prednisone 10mg four times a day

Yay on getting to see your doctor. I only have a second, but here are some questions I'd want to know:

1. Where is my disease exactly?
2. How bad is my disease?
3. Do I have any narrowed areas, and if so - where are they?
3. What should I do if I start feeling worse once coming off of the prednisone?
4. Anything I should avoid taking? (just curious if they advise you not to take NSAIDS, stay away from caffeine and no smoking like my doc did)

I'm sure others will pop in with other good questions - that's all I can think off of the top of my head. Good luck!!

Hi lininja, Would your Dr. want you to see a Nutritionist? Diet Idea's? Same as#4
Is Irritable Bowel an Issue?
Peaches, Really Hit it a Great point if you feel Worse lowering Prednisone?
Don't Think Twice about calling your Doctors Nurse if You Have any Questions or Get Worse.
I wish You Well.....

Peaches covered everything I would say... the lil brat lol... Keep a list, sometimes if you let the Gi read it , they can absorb it better. Ask for something for pain, if you need it, just in case.

Let us know tomorrow what happens, good luck!!!!!!

Good luck tomorrow

You may also want to ask your Dr. if he wants you to avoid any foods or add any foods?

Good luck with ya gp
the hard part has passed - the diagnosis
now hopefully they can work with you to help lower the symptoms and make life easier

as stated ask about diet
maybe also about your blood sugar levels - seems long term use of pred can reek havoc on your levels making you feel worse
also see about multi vitamins and a calcium and vitamin d supliment for the prednisone
hope all goes well

Good Luck, lilninja. Remember, do not be afraid to ask any question. You may think one is silly but none are. If you don't understand an explanation tell her.

Got some news

The dr said i had/have an ulcer in my small intestines and spots of inflammation in both my small and large intestines. She said i have a mild case of crohn's. She feels at this time if i stay on the pentasa i should be good. She has started to cut me down on predinisone 5mg a week for the next 8 weeks. then she wants to see me again. She also put me on calcium and vitamin d supplements because i have a hard time with milk and eggs. She was much better today, then when i meet her at the hospital. She made sure she answered all of our questions. I'm feeling alot better after seeing her.

Thank you to everyone for your great questions and support. it makes going thru this alot easier when you don't feel so alone. :)

Glad you are at ease with your doctor, even all doctors have a bad day here and there. They dont like to guess unless they can see signs of Crohn's. Pentasa is usually the first choice of drugs to see how you react and if it's going to work. If the Prendisone is finished and it comes back, Pentasa takes some time to work so by the time you finish your Pred, it should start working. Your Gi is doing a good job helping you. Start one one drug and change to another, good idea. That way you know what is working or what you react too.

Keep your diet simple until it kicks in. Happy you are finally dx, sorry that you do have Crohn's. Hugs

I'm glad you got answers and happier yet that its only mild CD. It will be easier to get under control. And like Pen said, keep your diet simple. Things will heal faster by eating smart. Its a pain, but it is necessary.

Yay!! Glad it is just a "mild" case - although any kind of inflammation can be a pain in the butt!! I hope what you are on right now will clear things up for you. Glad you have more faith in your doc - so important!
