The past few days I've been eating hard boiled eggs like crazy... I love them with salt and taco sauce or in an egg salad sandwich... I think I've had about a dozen in the past 30 hours... I was just wondering if this would be bad for my Crohn's in any way? It's probably a totally ridiculous question but whatever. haha.

I don't think it should affect Crohns in any way, but man lay off the eggs for a while.

I like them too, but you have far surpassed my egg intake. Now I want some eggs, but I want them with Bacon. I don't want to start cooking bacon now. I really want an egg cheese and bacon sandwich. I would even settle for fried spam instead of bacon.

OK now I am off to cook some eggs and hopefully bacon also.

I really haven't eaten hard boiled eggs much myself. But, some of the guys at my husband's work have gotten some pretty bad gas from eating hard boiled eggs. I myself have eaten scrambled eggs everyday for breakfast from our yard chickens and haven't had any real problems...

Eggs, maybe scrambled, bacon and some Roma tomatoes cooked in the pan after the bacon comes out.. :)
Good protein,no carbs, only a little fat, and tomatoes seem to be ok in my world..
Go for it!! (Am making a plan for breakfast..)

It isn't really the egg itself that might be the problem but rather what you are having with the eggs. It's best to avoid carbs and protein together so don't have an egg salad sandwich every day:)

Other than that, eggs are good, just try to combine them with things that have similar digestion patterns and it will actually start being beneficial for your crohn's:)

Well, I've continued my high egg diet the past few days... I think I've eaten six more toady... and I haven't noticed any significant problems... I know they probably aren't the best for my cholesterol levels, but whatever... I'm struggling with a partial obstruction, so I really can't eat much nowadays, especially in the way of protein.

I eat about 5 eggs a day, and have done for a while. So long as you only use 1/2 yolks it's fine. The yolk is the only part that should cause any concern really.

There are so many misconceptions about eggs and cholesterol, thanks to the media. Eggs are actually very nutritious for you, especially the yolk! That being said, some people do have an intolerance to eggs and it could be affecting your Crohn's symptoms without you even realizing it. If you notice an increase in your symptoms, you may just want to keep that in mind.

Well sure, the cholesterol in eggs is widely seen as a bad thing, which isn't the whole picture. But when you're eating 5 a day you don't want 5 yolks, that's crazy.

The yolks of eggs do contain cholesterol, but cholesterol itself does not cause heart disease. LDL cholesterol plays a role in heart disease, but it is only when poor overall diet (not caused by cholesterol itself, but by processed food consumption, i.e. grains and sugar) and toxins destroy the LDL particle that heart disease will develop. There have been several studies out of the University of Conneticut that show that there is no connection between egg consumption and heart disease (see a review of these studies at http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/16340654). If you want to challenge all that you have learned from the media about cholesterol and heart disease, spend some time exploring this website: http://www.cholesterol-and-health.com/

I'm only 20 and am in very good health aside from having Crohn's... So I'm not too worried about my cholesterol... Plus the yolk is like the best part!! I probably won't keep this up for too much longer, but just about everything hurts going through my gut and I gotta eat something!

I wouldn't worry about the yolk being bad for your heart. Really its the processed foods that will impair proper cholesterol manufacturing rather than the inclusion of dietary cholesterol and fat. Egg yolk is actually really good for you and contains many many many more nutrients than just the white. Contains 10x more calcium and phosphorous than the whites and has Vitamins A E D & K all of which are non existant in the whites.

Katy has it right:)

Just agreeing with Katy and Gianni. If you avoid the processed food then eggs will not be a problem. It is the combination of fat and processed refined carbs that truly cause the problem. My mom went on the whole 30 diet (whole food, grain free, sugar free, dairy free diet). She poured on the good fat and ate tons of eggs. After a few months, her cholesterol had dropped one hundred points.

So is it different when you bake with eggs versus having a scrambled egg?? Last week we started my son on somewhat of an elimination diet. The one think I am letting him have is eggs. He is showing improvements but still has his days.
