My fiance and I have decided to start trying for a baby. This is our first month at it. I felt I was finally healthy enough to try. Anyway are my chances any slimmer of being able to conceive? Aside from crohns im pretty healthy but I still worry about it. My GI also spoke with me about treatments after the Remicade fails (which I am slowly becoming allergic to) and the next syep is to remove my colon. He said after its removed it becomes harder to become pregnant due to scar tissue.
I guess my main questions are:
Is it harder to become pregant with crohns?
Are my chances lower if I begin to flare at any point during the cycle (I had a pretty bad flare for 3 days that I am still trying to control during the 2 weeks after ovulation)?
If Remicade kicks it and I require surgery before becoming pregnant (obviously ill wait until I am fully healed) does it becone harder to conceive?
Thanks I really want a little one. I have a dear son already but id like a sibling and he really wants me and his step dad to have a kiddo.
I should also say I wqs told by both my ob/gyn and my gi that I am ok to conceive as long as I am not seeing blood daily in the toliet or having intense stomache pains. Ob told me I would automatically be considered high risk though and would require several ultrasounds during pregnancy. I also dont usually flare so this was a new thing for me and am gaining control of it I was thinking the added stress added to the flare.
