Well after a referal to the BMI Hampshire clinic today for the removal of two widsom teeth, I was shocked to see level of care i recieved for something trival compared to the after care i unfortunatly experianced from the NHS after my resection surgery last year.

I had briefly looked into private insurance before however assumed i would not be able to get cover for Crohns as I am diagnoised.

Has anybody currently got private insurance because of an IBD? If so has it been worth it?

Thanks:rosette1:

With private health you will most probably have the same people looking after you (unless there is a private hospital that specialises in what you need near by). I know if I used private health it will just mean i will be seen quicker.

I do have it through work (AXA PPP) but have never used it.

I am more than happy with my consultants who i have and the way they treat me, there care is out of this world. The care i found very poor is the five days after surgery when your consultants have gone.

After seeing the facilites today i know my recovery last year would of been 100% better there

I think it is possible because I got a quote recently and they asked if I wanted my Crohn's included in the quote. I said no as it's a pre-existing condition the payments would be horrendous. It was about £35 per month without the Crohn's.

thanks bld i want to be covered for crohns. i might have a look around tomorrow. I think its worth it due to the chance of surgery. i couldn't take the loss of dignity again. (however once again my direct care and consultants are amazing!!)
