Vaginal lip tags

Crohn's Disease Forum

Help Support Crohn's Disease Forum:

Skin tags in general might be but I'm not sure although with all the recent posts you've made I'm starting to wonder if all of your issues are related.

Crabby, I'm starting to wonder the same thing. Did you catch the post where I listed some of the findings from this past friday's endoscopy w/biopsy? I am eagerly awaiting biopsy results.

Just now checked it out. Lots of issues going on. Are your doctors working together at all?

Thinking of the thread where you mentioned your throat and redness, that makes me think that the findings in the endoscopy are very much related to the redness and swelling you get. Do you also have problems with your teeth? When stomach acid keeps coming up it will damage all of these areas making the lining thin over time. Gerd is also very common in Crohn's patients. I wish you could get a diagnosis soon so when you do finally get proper treatment I think most of the issues you're having will start to go away.

Do you like your GI? Is he worth seeing? Seems odd that they wouldn't order a colonoscopy when doing the endoscopy not to mention the amount of pain you have down in your pelvic area (which could also be from the bleeding you mentioned in another thread). The guy is starting to sound like more and more of a dip since he's telling you to just take a laxative for now when he could be doing more tests. The sooner you get a diagnosis the better so if you think you should see someone else, then please do!

Depending on how I feel after PT on Monday, I'll let you know what the doc said over the phone regarding getting a colonoscopy. Either way, I will let you know soon what the doc said.

This doc is an older gentleman. Maybe I should switch to the GI doc in the IBD clinic at Johns Hopkins Hospital that someone on this site gave a review for. The only downfall is that I have vascular instability and I loose circulation in my feet and legs when I stand or sit for any length of time. Then they change colors, swell, become extremely cold and become more sensitive to stimuli. The vibrations from the car cause pain as well. Hubby ran out of his family leave so there goes my driver to Hopkins. It's at least an hour away if there is no traffic. If there's traffic, it can be a lot more than an hours drive.

I quit going to docs for years because of the abuse of the docs in the medical system. I had to go to whoever the insurance said I could go to. I was very distraught and just decided to suffer and live with things.

Back in July of 2010, I got Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS), formerly know as, and still referred to by the medical community as, Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy. Since having RSD, my previous health conditions became worse. I am convinced that RSD has an underlying cause. Medical personnel are only looking at ways to help with the pain, not why do people get CRPS. I got rsd from a break in my left foot.

Peripheral Neuropathy is part of crohn's and rsd. I have peripheral neuropathy now and take Cymbalta for the nerve pain. Interestingly, as the RSD flared or flares, so did/does all my other health issues.

I forgot to mention. I have sensitive teeth and receding gums but thats all as far as I know. i've never had a cavity. It's been a while since I've been to the dentist. Money is a factor here. Between all my medical bills and now my daughters, the dollar is tightly stretched.

I can understand that, not many people can afford dental these days. I only went to see one when the pain was extremely bad and had to have a root canal or extraction (only thing my insurance covers now is emergency extractions). Sounds like you haven't had to deal with that so far so that's good.

As for the distance to the other GI, I know you said its only an hour away but is it possible to make a day trip out of it by stopping frequently so you have few issues? You know when people are in the hospital they sometimes get these devices put on their legs that massage them periodically to help prevent blood clots? Would something like that help you? I obviously don't know much about your condition just throwing out ideas.

It's highway all the way. No chance for stopping. I'd get lost if I got off the highway. Hee, hee, hee. I'm still going to consider it if things don't go well with this GI doc.

Crabby, You are not going to believe this one. The vaginal tag turned out to be a polyp. The GYN said it was a good thing we decided to have it removed and biopsied. The polyp would only continue to grow.

In light of the most recent vaginal/abdominal sonogram, I will be having a Laporoscopy Assisted Complete Hysterectomy with Bladder Lift (?- Can't remember the term doc used.) The best ovary will be left so I don't have to have hormones. (Due to having had two blood clots, the doc said I can't take hormones. It would be too dangerous.) The bladder thing is being done because I have a 2nd (possibly now 3rd) degree bladder drop. If the doc finds anything while she is in there, she will fix it. It's time to put Humpty Dumpty back together again.

The uterine polyp has blood flow through it; meaning the polyp could turn cancerous. Then again, maybe it won't, but the blood flow through it raises the risk of it becoming cancerous. I started my period Aug. 4th and started it again Aug. 27th. The doc said that having the polyp along with the mushy bladder will make my bleeding during menses even worse than it already is. I could end up bleeding between periods as well. My blood work shows that I am just one number away from being anemic. So time to let the Uterus go.

The GYN will also do exploratory surgery to see if I have anything weird going on like my daughter did. My 14 yr. old daughter had an adhesion that went from her colon and attached to her left pelvic side wall. When the doc cut the adhesion from the colon and pelvic wall, the colon dropped a long way. Both the colon and pelvic wall were cauterized after the adhesion was removed. The doc also discovered that my daughter's colon was more than twice the normal size. Today, I inquired about doing the exploratory part of the surgery and she said it was a reasonable request due to the findings with my daughter and my painful periods growing up as well as all my constipation issues, pelvic and stomach pain issues. Surgery is tentatively scheduled for October 1st. Just waiting to hear if the OR is available that day.

That's great news that you're getting things figured out and fixed! :D Hopefully you'll be feeling much better. You're still undiagnosed right? Perhaps all this might even get you closer to a diagnosis.

Thanks Crabby! Yes, still undiagnosed. I don't think I just have IBS. Too much else going on. I'm disappointed that the GI doc will not set up the colonoscopy appt. right now. He said I have to wait until I see him next week to discuss it. I'm not worried though. If he doesn't order the colonoscopy, I know my pcp will give me a slip to get one done when I see her this Friday. She has been awesome! She is also thinking about me getting bronchoscopy done because I'm having trouble keeping my Peak Flow meter readings at an appropriate level. We think I may be doing some aspiration of the GERD contents. As the GERD got worse, my breathing did to. It's a no brainer at this point that the GERD is causing breathing problems.

On the one hand, I''m scared of having the surgery. Never had one. I've only this year had procedures done under general sedation not anesthesia. This surgery will be the first under anesthesia. I'm going to need all the support I can get. On the other hand, I can't wait for the surgery to get some of my issues fixed and hopefully feel much better after recovery.

Hopefully recovery wont be too painful. I've never had that particular surgery but I've been put under a few times for my resection, dental work (impacted wisdom teeth removed) and for central IVs in the past. I love getting put to sleep. :p It's the waking up part that sucks. Just try to sleep as much as possible after surgery. That's what I always did.

You're GI sucks. I'm sorry you have to deal with them right now yet I'm still hopeful that you might be able to see another one soon.

I have an implanted Bard Power Port. It is in my juggler vein right above my right breast. I love it. It's so much better than having a PICC line. I was sedated for the procedure. They even let me keep all my fleece blankets on me during the surgery. I have to be kept warm because of my RSD. I can see God's hand in everything that has happened. At first I don't always see it. By having the implanted port, I won't have to have any needle sticks or peripheral IV's. Thank goodness. Needle sticks cause my RSD to flare. After having the endoscopy, my RSD did flare. Still not out of the flare yet. Despite what I went through, in the end there was a blessing.

Hi, I know I'm a little late jumping in to the conversation... but I had a few questions about the skin tags you mentioned in first posting. I've had problems with skin tag type things in that area before, they usually seem to occur before or during a flare. I was tested for std's before giving birth to my daughter, everything was fine, and I haven't been sexually active since. You said yours ended up being polyps? Sorry, just trying to get questions together to ask OBGYN at appointment tomorrow. I also have a lot of ovarian cysts, and have fistulas running amuck, one of which is tracking towards vaginal area but has not made an opening yet as far as I know. Do you think the skin tags are related to this? I know you can't really give me solid medical answers, I just wondered if you had any advice about things I could ask my doctor about since she may not be aware of all the EIM's of Crohn's.... Any advice would be very helpful. Thanks in advance. :)

Make sure the skin tags are biopsied. My skin tags turned out to be polyps. Polyps can either be benign or cancerous. I am sitll undiagnosed but seem to have many EIM symptoms. I also have inflammation of the esophagus, stomach, uvula, tonsils and throat. I have GERD as well as severe constipation issues. I have had pelvic pain for years. I believe the pelvic pain is due colon issues. I was about to have a colonoscopy when I got a severe concussion. My Neurologist won't let me be put to sleep until concussion is doing better. He does not want any further injury to my brain. I also have issues with the uterus that includes polyps, various types of cysts, and a condition where the lining of the uterus is growing into the wall of the uterus causing severe bleeding during menstral cycle. Enough to affect blood iron levels. I too have cysts on my ovaries. I would encourage you to request the GYN doc to do exploratory surgery. The reason being, there are many things a female can have that cannot be picked up on a sonnogram or ultrasound much less a CT scan. Due to both my CRPS/RSD brain and Concussion brain, I do believe I am jumping around a bit in my response to your question. Thank you for bearing with me. Re-read this message if you need to and please ask me for clarificaiton if needed. It is interesting that you mention having the tag(s) occur during a flare. I have been having a GI flare for quite some time. Even though I had the tags (polyps) removed, more have since grown back. I am still in a GI flare. Okay, I'm going to take a stab at this. Here goes. Correct me please if I have any of my info wrong. Thanks. With Crohn's, there is reduced immunity. Am I correct about this or not? If so, then I can see how the body might run amuck with tags growing during or before a flare.
I don't know if any of this makes sense. I hope so. Let me know your thoughst. Blessings, NL

Thank you so much for your response. It did make perfect sense to me and was very helpful. If you don't mind my asking, how did you get such a serious concussion? Sorry for all the trouble you are having, and I hope you can get some answers and relief soon.

Appointment in a few hours, will let you know how it goes.

Thanks again! :)

I had a 200-300 pound vendor's awning come down on my head.:yfaint: Not pretty.:ymad: The vendor did not anchor the legs to the awning down at all.:mad2:

Sooo..... How did your appointment go?

My vaginal lip tags are growing again. The bleeding and clotting during my period is insane now. Never saw so much blood during mensus in my life. Kinda scary. Still can't get the surgery due to the concussion. Doc expects it to take up to six months or more for me to recovery from the concussion damage. Pelvic pain has been awful as well. Still waiting on clearance from doc for surgery. Sigh....
