I’ve just seen my doctor and she said my calprotectin level is 1000, so very high. Along with raised ASR, she has referred me for an ultrasound scan to check liver, pancreas, gallbladder and my intestines, basically everything. She said it could be ibd but Doctors don’t like to give out too much info do they

Ultrasound really can’t determine if you have Crohns
It can look at the liver though a little

Hope you get a full colonoscopy soon

I know, doctor just want to check that everything okay with my liver and the other things I mentioned
I hope so too
Thank you for replying

1000 is high. Calprotectin is gut specific so usually when it is high, it's either inflammation or an infection. I'm guessing they have done stool tests for an infection??

I hope they will do the colonoscopy soon!

It’s been 6 weeks since it all started so I don’t think it could be an infection. I have had bloods x2 and stool x2 done since it started

I’m hoping they send me for a colonoscopy to get to the bottom of it all

In a similar position Hayley. Was told mine was high over the phone but wasn't told the level. Had 2 normal stool tests previously and a normal blood test. Let us know how you get on.

Fecal calprotetectin is gut specific and raised only in cases of IBD, colon cancer, infections, prolonged and high dose NSAID use, sometimes celiac and sometimes diverticulosis, also possible a bad gastro bug.

I would push for the colonoscopy. 1000 is high and definitely implies inflammation.
