Well after several years on azathiaprin and asacol things have settled down enough for me to manage to slowly cut out all meds, which I have now done for 9 months and amazingly everything is fine, my life recently has changed dramatically and my specialist now seems to think that previous flare ups are mostly stress related :eek2:

Anyway .... tummy is happy, life is chilled and I feel very very lucky... but .... having come off the aza I seem to be kicking up allergies to everything :( this seems to be red hot hives on my chin and inner elbows, I have been away from home for a week... and had no symptoms... got back home and instant reaction :(
The only differences I can put my finger on is at home I have added a synthetic memory foam mattress pad to my bed, and while I have been away my dogs have not been sleeping in my bed, now I am back home they are sleeping on my bed again.

I seriously hope I cant have developed an allergy to one of my dogs  altho when I was younger I did get a similar face rash from one of my horses :eek2:

Just wondering if anyone had experienced anything similar?

stay well everyone and thanks for reading

It is highly possible you have at least a sensitivity to the dogs. Most of those foams are purposely designed to not cause reactions. For me, my health immediately improved when a cat that was in the house departed. I know that probably isn't what you want to hear, but there likely is a link. Glad to hear of the improvements otherwise!
