You all know what I'm talking about, right? When you're on the toilet and you start shaking and sweating and get goose bumps all over your body and little silver stars start floating in front of your eyes and you feel like you could just wring yourself into a pretzel and rocket right out of there? What causes this??? It has been happening to me A LOT lately and it leaves me utterly exhausted.

Yes, it happens to me when I'm in a flare. The shakes, sweating, goosebumps, and floating stars all happen for me because of the strictures in my transverse and descending colons. And like you, Cookie, I'm utterly exhausted after one of these "sessions"...three in an hour (like yesterday morning) take the stuffing right out of me.

I had it today after I ate crunchy nut clusters !! obviously not the best diet choice for someone with crohns not only was I exhausted my make-up fell off in the process I looked like a ghost..

Yes, thats a terrible feeling....and like Glum said, it happens when flaring. And thats how I know things are really bad....hope you feel better

LOL, Archie. I know it's not funny, but it made me laugh about your makeup coming off!

My violent poops are usually followed by and "Oh, God...." and then my head in my hands for a few minutes until I can gather my strength.

You have two major nerves, they are the longest cortical nerves in your body btw, they are called the Vagus Nerve . They are primarily made up of sensory cells meaning they collect information about the body and relay that info to the brain stem and other parts of the brain. All of this is done automatically. They are part of a system of nerves known as the parasympathetic and sympathetic systems. These two systems counter each other and relay information about all kinds of goings on in your body from blood pressure to hunger and thirst. For instance one stimulates and increases the heart rate while the other sedates and decreases the heart rate.
A lot of those symptoms that you are having are related to these nerves and their stimulation by means of nerves that are all throughout your abdomen. Nausea is one of the things that these nerves control and convey to the brain and Zofran works directly on these nerves to counter the signals. Meditation and controlled breathing methods all stimulate these two systems and the vagus nerves.
Might be a little much info but in a nut shell you are having these awful symptoms because of the stimulation and the effects of that stimulation on the vagus nerves and other pain receptor nerves in your body...sucks don't it! Same thing happens to me too in a bad flare.
As for solutions? Research is ongoing but because these systems effect so many things like breathing and heart rate, hunger and sexual drive. It is hard to suppress one thing without effecting the entire body in a bad way and that is the major problem with trying to control negative things like we experience with drugs.
