well recently i have found my belly button starting to push out and turn red, when i touch it it feels hard as if somethings being pushed up against it, has anyone had this? its painfull when i push sometimes and rarely i hear a squelching noise if i push it, as if liquids being pushed around, but not very often its only on the bottom part of my belly button, no where els
this is weird lol

hi freedom :)

that does sound weird, i agree. have you ever had abdo surgery? i'm wondering if its a little hernia, or even possibly a cyst/ulcer just beneath your belly button area.. either way, i would certainly show this to a gp, just for reassurance if nothing else.

never had surgery on my stomach before no
and it use to be really small i use to have to push in heaps to feel it now its gotten huge >< and gets red

oh wow reading that has scared me stupid now -.-
and i literally feel sick knowing this

aw sorry :( didnt mean to scare you - its just one reason why people can get a swelling there...... sorry :( i feel bad now.

but honest, whatever's causing it - it needs to be seen, i think so anyway.

Don't feel bad, better he finds out sooner rather than later if it is the case, if not, he may have the urge to get it checked out when that could have been absent before. We all know thinking back how things could have differed had we investigated our early Crohns symptoms sooner than we did. I know I do.

Best of luck.

thanks benson, i still regret putting the link up - i am the kind of person who always wants the full details when it comes to health, and i often consult the web for possibilities so i'm info'd up, but i forget that not everyone is the same.

i hope you're right tho, and that if he did take one thing from this thread, that it was to go and talk to a gp about it.

freedom - if you pop back in here (& i hope you do) please accept my apologies for scaring you, i didnt mean to. i hope you get it checked out & that everythings ok.

haha no worries at all!
dont feel sorry one bit! all you were doing was trying to help me!
its not your fault i got worried lol,
i usually want the full details anyway, wether it be bad or really really really bad :p
tomorrow im booking an appointment with the doctors!
hopefully its nothing like in that link
thanks for the help, and IM sorry that i made you feel bad :(

thanks freedom - i'm glad i didnt send you screaming to the hills :D

good luck with the docs, let us know how you get on. :)

I was born with an umbilical hernia and had surgery to correct it. I wouldn't worry too much, but go see your doctor just to be safe and get the surgery. As Mike said the surgery isn't too bad and the recovery goes reasonably quickly.

ok, bad idea, i didn't see the doctor, it went away a while ago and came back a day or two ago, and this morning it popped/started leaking, with thick puss, and a little blood, i am waiting for a friend to pick me up and take me to the doctors or hospital while im writing this.
i have also been feeling really well the last few weeks, but thats because i self dossed to 15mg of Steroids

just an update on me :)

im in no pain at all :) which is good, but im worried i will need surgery
to all my Christian brothers and sisters, pray for me!! :D

Hmmm, possible umbilical hernia... which you didn't go to the doctor about. And you've been 'self dosing' on steroids... immune suppressors. So, if your belly button had an infection of some kind, those self given immune suppressors would stop your body's ability to fight it.. Freedom, time to smell the freaking coffee!!!

My mother's older sister, Rose... had an umbilical hernia. But, she was just too busy raising her family, looking after her kids hand N foot... cooking, cleaning, and of course, her other passion... singing in the choir. She just never found the time to go in, get it diagnosed, have the relatively easy operation to fix it.

It got worse... apparently became strangulated at some point. She told no one
She didn't go to a doctor... Problem is, it didn't go away. At some point, no one knows for sure when... it turned into a malignancy.. Then it was too late.

By the time she 'finally' saw a doctor, it had spread... everywhere. She lasted less than 4 months... and in the end, no one could recognize what the cancer had left... It was a closed casket ceremony, she was totally unrecognizable!!!

Here was a woman who never smoked, never drank, never swore, never missed a church service... closest thing I ever knew to an honest to god living saint. And she didn't live to see her 50th birthday... all due to just an umbilical hernia.

thanks for the scare, i went and got it checked, apparently they said its a absiss
excuse the spelling, they squeezed all this puss and blood out, and ive been put on meds and i have to go tomorrow morning and get more squeezed out, and they have
got some samples of it to head off to a test lab.

so alls well ends well for me ;) phew

yuk, sounds nasty, but i'm pleased the nastiness is coming out now - much better than being inside!! & i'm happy it turned out to be something simple to treat.

oh yeah, one more thing.... :ybatty: (next time you're worried, toddle off to the docs sooner :D )

haha
worst part is tonight is going to be annoying to sleep
its leaking and boy does it SMELL
i cant take the thing off my belly button either thats holding it all there incase it leaks
i cant shower either

funny the doctor didn't do anything but look at it and go

"oh looks like a skin infection blah blah abscess"
he started squeezing it and pew pew pew heaps flew out lol

im still worried just in case he didn't look at it properly
what if my stomach is leaking or bowels???

i wouldnt worry too much.. if it was a bowel leak, you would know about it.. they dont hang around for weeks without you becoming extremely ill, extremely quickly.

things like foreign bodies and abcesses/cysts do tend to find their way out, and eventually break through the skin, sounds to me like this is whats happened. i take it you're on antibiotics? that should help from the inside out, and the fact that its discharging will help clear it locally too. but - if you're still worried, get someone else to check it.. maybe the local A&E (particularly if it carries on for a few days & keeps producing pus) umm, yeah, and if your temp suddenly rises, do the same. k? :)

yeh im on antibiotics

ive noticed when i pee more puss comes out
and ive notice it leaks and leaks and leaks and leaks
and when i squeeze it out myself only a little will come out and then stop
but when i leave it by itself, it leaks and leaks and leaks

is it suppose to leak so heavily in large amounts?

i need to remember not to come in here when i'm having my lunch... ;)

i cant really answer that, and its possible not even a doctor could say exactly how much is 'supposed' to leak. sometimes you get a mixture of fluid and pus coming from an infected area like this. sounds like a nasty infection, i hope the meds begin to kick in soon and reduce it. but like i said before, dont wait around if it carries on, get a 2nd opinion.

sore

i feel really really tired and sick, i threw up.
its changed color to a more dark more disgusting color

and its leaking alot more

i am so drained, and even though i slept all day yesturday and all last night i am still very very tired and drained

and it keeps making fart noises and some weird gas/air comes out as if its an actual fart.

and its starting to sting a little.

freedom - i'd get back to a doctor, asap.

could be the antibiotics are the wrong ones, could be something else. but i think it needs looking at - seriously.

Yeah, freedom... I echo dingbats sentiments. See a doc or head to the ER pronto.
It's one thing if a situation stays the same, very slowly improves... but when the condition gets worse, THEN it's time to see the professionals, get it looked at now

update

went to hospital for a week
its a Fistula from my small bowel to my belly button and its leaking poo hahaha
i have a part-time bag stuck to my belly button until it stops leaking.
in other news doctors are taking me off the prednisilone
upping my other meds, and soon to be put on Infliximab which is apparently a wonder treatment

i have to see the specialist next friday to see what he wants to do about the fistula, either operation or drug treatment

aw sorry to hear that, freedom :(

but its reassuring to know exactly what the problem is now, and that you're in the right, safe hands. here's hoping the meds calm things down and that you dont need the surgery.

either way, we're all here for you if you want to moan or anything...

my best wishes.

Sorry to hear the bad news, Freedom. Least you're on the right track now. If the docs do start talking operation, be sure to question them on surgery, post op infections AND immuno suppressing therapy. Hard to fight off an infection if your'e doped to the gills on immune suppressors... Course, they ARE taking u off pred.
And the biologics are TNF suppressors, what about your 'remaining' drug loads?

Upping the Immuran and Mesasal

mesasal to 500mg
and immuran to 100mg

i am so excited hopefully off the prednisilone ill lose my weight, and my fat face :D

Well, if memory serves, the immu in imuran stands for immune suppressors.. So, if the surgeons don't think about it... bring it up... ASK them if it might complicate things a bit if you develop a post or pre op infection while taking these suppressors... Watch them carefully when you raise this question. If YOU see a little light come on in their heads, THEN you probably dodged a bullet. Like, the imuran, at least in my case, yours may be different, takes quite a while to build up enuff to kick in...... and when I went toxic on it, it only took few days to clean out of my system. Like, my adverse reaction pains went away within 2 days of stopping it. So, if the docs agree that it MIGHT present a problem... then you N they can work out a timetable... come off them 'before', stay off them during recup., then re-introduce them if your condition requires. I could be totally wrong; the docs could dismiss the risk as being extremely small

But it's better to raise the question; EVEN if the docs think you (or I) are crazy, than to go in blind, and ASSume the doctors HAVE thought of every last thing.
