Summer's coming (okay yes, I just saw on the news that they're forecasting SNOW here on Saturday but summer is coming, really!). What are you most looking forward to doing during the summer?

For me, I'd love to go kayaking again. Hubby and I bought a 2-person kayak and used it a ton during the summer of 2009. Then I got ill that fall and wasn't able to kayak at all last summer. I'm reminded of that every time I go into the basement and see our kayak hanging there, collecting a thick layer of dust. Even on the days that I felt relatively well last summer, I was so afraid of going out on the kayak because there aren't exactly a lot of bathrooms available when you're in the middle of a creek or lake. (But there are a lot of other boaters and I think I would rather crap myself than hang my bottom over the side of the boat for all to see - but don't really want to do either!) Now I'm doing somewhat better, on Entocort although I believe my GI is taking me off of it in May, so who knows how I'll be feeling in the summer. To add further complications, my hubby now has kidney stones and needs to pee frequently as he's trying to flush them from his system, so we both need to be near a bathroom now. I'd love to kayak again - I just hope we're both in good enough shape to be able to!

Whoooo, lucky Cat! I love kayaking! I can't find a way to do it often here in the city but it's one of my favourite activities. Even if you two can do 20 mins, twice a week, you'll be out in the fresh air having the time of your life. :)

I am hoping to take another pottery class this summer. It's been about 3 years and I had just about gotten to the point where I could throw things that didn't end up horribly lopsided! And I'm looking forward to lots of bike rides, too.

The highlight of my summer is going to be the Osheaga music festival in July! Great bands in my favorite city. http://www.osheaga.com/en/ They announced the lineup yesterday, and while it's not as great as previous years... It should still be a good time! VERY excited. :D I think I'm going to spring the extra $$$ and get a VIP pass - access to private bathrooms!! No lineups or port-o-potties! Whoo!

Everything!!! And anything!! Mostly I want to go horse riding again when I'm recovered enough! Can't wait! :D x

Golfing!!!!!!!!! My hubby and I golf together. End of summer to see my step son get married and meet my stepdaughters' baby boy, he will be 6 months old by then..

ewwwww I don't do water stuff! scared stiff of the stuff! My biggest fear is drowning.

Hey Sharon, have a great time, only heard of Elvis and Eminem!

I'm looking forward to 6 weeks off work, and landscaping my garden. I'm gonna build a rockery.

Oh, how I love summer! The list of what I love most about summer is endless. My top include:
1. Warmth
2. Flip flops
3. Vacations
4. BBQ's
5. Beach & Swimming

Kelly: 20 minutes is unfortunately of the question, it takes longer than that just to get the kayak out of the house and on top of the car! So I would think we wouldn't want to go out for anything less than an hour. We've done 4 and 6 hour kayak trips back before either of us had health issues, but I think those days are over. I could see going out for an hour or two, but then again, what if I suddenly need the bathroom? What if I get a gut cramp and can't paddle? It's those kinds of worries that are holding me back.

Going to Branson for a few days! My all time thing is camping and fishing though. :) We try to go at least three times through out the summer.

I used to love camping, pre crohns though. I have canoed for 7 days and portaged and roughed it, nothing nicer than being in nature, and water...

As for you Joan dont worry the fish are scared of you too!:ytongue:

DEFINITELY LOVE THIS STUFF JILL:nonono:

AND IM TOTALLY LOOKING FORWARD TO TAKING MY KIDS ON VACAY IN JULY TO THE ADIRONDACS AND HIKING AND SEEING THE OLYMPIC SIGHTS FROM LAKE PLACID. HOPE THE CROHNS HOLDS UP WELL, IM REALLY EXCITED!!!!

Okay, I've got one more to add... I'm looking forward to using my new air conditioner! We used our tax return to buy central air and it's going to be so lovely on hot days. Last summer we had no air conditioning and spent a lot of time in our ugly basement because it's cooler down there - this year, we actually get to, you know, live in our house and be comfortable! I am so happy, I don't have to hang out down in hubby's "man cave" anymore, ha ha. :D

Warmth! Have had enough snow this year, thank you very much. I am ready to set my winter coat on fire as I am so tired of wearing it too! We're hoping once April is done we can finally have some decent weather--they're forecasting sloppy slushy snow on Friday for us. yuck!!

Aw Pen, I love the fish! It's water I don't like. I wouldn't go on a boat if you paid me! I went on a pedalo in Spain once, and screamed after hundred yards! We had to go back to dry land before I fainted with fright.

Jill, I love your list, except for the swimming!

I'm looking forward to watching the sailboats out on Lake Ontario, walking around the boat harbor, taking my Ike for a walk and a car ride, taking photos of nature with my digital camera, hanging with my peeps, and just enjoying life.

Our Joan, afraid of a little water? I am afraid to break the news to you, but... you live on an island, you're surrounded by water! May as well learn to enjoy the stuff! Ha ha. ;)

Oi, what about us lot residing south of the equator! It's not all about the northern hemisphere! Waaaaaaaahhhhhh.....:rof:

Dusty. :):):)

I'm looking forward to grilling, thunderstorms, flowers blooming, Farmer's Market's, and wearing shorts and flip flops.

I am NOT looking forward to the mosquitoes!

Sorry Dusty, I forgot that the seasons are switched where you are! So, what are you looking forward to doing in the Aussie winter? Do you get snow where you are?

Marisa, eek, mosquitoes! They're here already unfortunately! We had one in the house the other day, I mooshed the little bugger but I'm sure there's plenty more where it came from. :(

At the moment, we are having a serious issue with moth flies! They are SOOO annoying. It's as if every one we kill, two more sprout up. They supposedly breed in the drains in the organic matter that can build up (can you say Eww??) along the pipes, but I could swear they are coming from the air vents. Either way... :::shudder:::

YOu will love it! I have central air and will never be without it again...hotflashes are a bugger in the summer :ylol2:

:) Please don't mock the inflicted! (ya bunch of witches)

Ha, I am just getting started! When you come visit next year, we have a cold running spring creek, that comes up to the mid shin, shall I have a buoy ring here for you?? :rof::rof: sorry couldn't resist! You know we are just kidding...

Sorry for hijacking Cat! ;)

Pen I'm gonna need a wetsuit, armbands, a swimming ring and flippers!
And even then I won't go in!

I'm looking forward to our summer Cruise and Meg is looking forward to kayaking in the Norweigan Fjords. I'm with Joan though I will give the kayaking a miss!

Well Joanie I used to be a Swimming instructor and canoeing instructor, so dont worry I can save you lol!

Marisa, we had a similar problem with little moth things a couple years ago. We bought cheap pine bedding for our hedgehog, but it was apparently infested with larvae that hatched into little moths that were all over our house for awhile! We couldn't mush them either because they'd make a gross brown streak on the wall, yuuuck! A combination of pesticides and a portable bug zapper thing (looks like a tennis racket, but when you hit a bug with it they get electrocuted) finally did the trick, thank goodness. Now we buy the most expensive kind of aspen bedding for our hedgie, don't want to deal with moths again!

Pen, no worries, hijack away. :) I do that to enough threads myself so I have no problem with people doing it to my threads! Ha ha. Oh, and I don't get hot flashes (yet) since I'm only 31, but heat and especially humidity do seem to cramp up my guts like crazy, so I am really looking forward to having AC this summer! :D

Joan, no wonder you don't do well with water - if you wear all that (a wetsuit, armbands, a swimming ring and flippers) while swimming, you're probably just going to sink with all that extra stuff! Ha ha. You know I'm just teasing. ;)

Being WARM!, being barefoot/in sandals, gardening, going to the beach, going hiking, getting lots of Vitamin D... Anything, really! I just love feeling the warmth of the sun. <3

swimming. i was a state champ in high school and was a heck of a swimmer in college, trying to get back into it, when i have the strenth and endurance

Honestly, I'm looking for a very quick end to summer and the beginning of some nice Autumn days and nights!:)

Hopefully lots of roller skating... I want to start kayaking but the logistics are fuzzy. We live right on Lake Washington now and it is calling to me... We don't exactly have a place to keep a kayak and renting one whenever we want to go might be a drag... Flip flops definitely. I hate the heat of the summer but I do appreciate more daylight.

Fried zucchini is my favorite! Mmmm can't wait! Also honeycrisp apples and some maple almond butter.

BBQs (although with the BBQ on the back deck I barbeque a few times through the winter), golf, vacation and taking our soon to be newborn on walks around the neighbourhood in the stroller

Wow, Hawkeye!! Sonograms/ultrasounds or whatever took that pic sure has come a long way in the last ten years or so. Congrats!!!

Thanks, the technology is quite amazing. It was from the last ultrasound at between 33 and 34 weeks, the OB printed out the 3D facial view with the typical side on view.

Moving! I'm moving to where I HOPE my fiance and I are going to spend the rest of our lives. I wanna finally set down some deep roots :)

Yay, David! That sounds very exciting. :)

I am looking forward to NOT moving this summer, haha. We were worried we'd have to find a new place to rent because we wanted to spend less on rent so we could possibly start paying down more of our debt and saving some money. Our landlords agreed to lower our rent to a more reasonable price and we couldn't be happier! Maybe in a year or two we'll be in a position to buy something ;)

We are going to Paris for our honeymoon this July!! <3 finally lol...we will have been married over a year by then. ;)

I am also looking forward to a break off school, warm weather (I hate the cold!), driving around with the top down in my mini cooper convertible, and my parents and in laws coming to visit from the states!

Yayyyy :)
