what does this mean the GI doctor finds with my scope

ok something i found when reading what the GI doctor finds with my scope its strang and i dont know what it means i will type it here how i see it on the paper please tell me what you think? does this sound like crohn's to you ? it says on the paper that there was an erythematous erosive gastropathy with irregular erosions in the body and antrum of the stomach what does this mean?

my husband told me that the doctor did not find anything but when i got to reading the papers he sent home with me i got to reading it and found this what i type above

the GI doctor also put me on this what is it i have not started takiing it yet

Omeprazole is a treatment for stomach/GI tract ulcers, stomach acid, things like that.

When I google that phrase, a bunch of gastritis articles come up.

My doc put me on omeprazole as well, but I don't take it anymore - Prilosec is the brand name. I had gastritis and esophagitis that my upper endo found, and that was why he prescribed the omeprazole. It is of the class of drugs known as "proton pump inhibitors." But I asked him specifically if that inflammation was possibly from Crohn's and he said that the pathology would have been different. I guess Crohn's erosions are microscopically different than typical acid-reflux type inflammation. That's the assumption that I made, anyway. So if you are looking at your pathology report, then probably it would have indicated the inflammation was of a Crohnsian nature if it was, but if that's just your doctor's report from the procedure (what he saw with his own eyes) and you don't have the pathology report, then I guess you'll have to wait and see what that comes back with. I think it usually takes a week. Good luck.

Sounds like GERD (Gastroesophageal reflux disease) with redness (possibly caused by inflammation or infection) and erosion (from the acid reflux no doubt). Gastropathy is a general term used for stomach disease. That's all just a quick guess from looking up each word and the medication. You can always call the office and ask for a better idea as to what it all means.

Sounds like gastristis. I was on those medicines(priolosec) while I was pregnant and in high school. I aways got horrible acid reflux.

From what I understand in gastritis the inflammation/erosions are caused by acid and looks different microscopically than crohns type inflammation. Crohns inflammation and ulcers/erosions are caused by the white cells attacking your GI track and look raised, cobblestoned and the inflammation is very prevelant in most cases and looks very red and vainy(from what I've seen in pictures of both my scopes and ones I've looked at online) Also if you have a history of absesses or fistulas that is a clear sign of crohns but they don't usually diagnos crohns based on those alone.

I hope the medicine helps, I know it did wonders for me while I was pregnant

I think this is all really good insight. Come to think of it, most of your symptoms: terrible abdominal pain, being unable to eat, the vomiting; all sound like it's related to you stomach. Crohn's Disease can be found in the stomach as well, though it's usually further down the digestive track. I find that I can eat and sometimes have no pains or problems. There are other times when about an hour or two after eating, I feel bloated, nauseated, and crampy. My doctor said it fits with where my inflammation was located, the ileum; though I do have some in my colon as well.

Gatritis can really make someone feel miserable. It's also something to watch because stomach ulcers can develop if the erosions and acid are treated. I'm not too sure, but I think they use proton pump inhibitors (similar for really bad acid reflux) and Sucralfat (spelling?). The Sucralafat is used to coat the stomach so it is less irritated. My mom was on Sucralfat and she loves the stuff.

should know more when i hear from the doctor sometimes i can eat without pain to but few hours after i eat thats when i really start having stomach pain i also I feel bloated really bloated after eating
