Welcome Carabop, fall is definitely setting in, on Sunday it was warm enough to use the window airconditioning unit, but yesterday I pulled it from the window for the season. The airconditioner unit keeps putting on more weight, it definitely felt heavier now than it did in the spring, I'm not getting any younger. The leaves are changing color now, and I will need to light a fire each evening going forward.
 
18c and breezy,a good drying day.Bad news re: the quake,also there's a terrible volcanic surge happening in the Canary Islands,Have just watched on TV. some poor soul's swimming pool boiling over.Scarey times eh?

8C sunny nice day coming up. Yesterday I moved 4 loads of wood with some help from the neighbor, a helping hand goes a long ways. I returned the favor by cutting up some large wood for them that needed my big saw earlier in the month. We lean on each other to hold our selves up when the going is difficult. Economists are warning about the energy crunch in Europe will be affecting us at some point. An extra few loads on the pile won't hurt.
 
15 mins a week makes it sound like 2021 is desperate to leave the planet behind. I wish i could do that hastily sometimes myself. I'm enjoying some sunshine this week, it's been beautiful. i shall put in some spring bulbs soon too. Bet they come up early only to be burned by frost. I know my luck, lol. My thermals are out and prob i will put the electric blanket back on the bed. Mind, i'm not sure i can afford it this year with the bill hikes!
 
Same as yesterday, warm and windy.I agree,get through each day as best you can.The doom and gloom via the media is enough to depress the best of us. If only it was "Fake News" eh ? But every day has something to cheer us up,if we let it.Be it a kind word,a smile or bird song.......don't let the buggers get you down.
 
8C Another wet gray day. Bad news sells and makes money, they always pump the story up to make it worse than it really is. Yes we had big fires this year, but I remember even bigger fires decades ago. I'll just carry on and focus on my own issues. The next few days the weather is to be nice, I'll take advantage of it to get ready for the snow season. Nothing much worse than winter biting one's butt for not being ready for it.
 
Woke up this morning feeling like I was drowning. Unfortunately I was , in my own blood. Something burst in my nose and the cpap did the rest, The blood was pouring out of my nose and mouth. I called the ambulance and went up to the local hospital. The treatment was unique. They taped two wooden tongue depressors together and clamped my nose shut till it clotted then sent me home. I said to them it will bleed again and they said come back when it does. modern medicine , treat the symptom ,not the cause. Ron.
 
Had to do without my computer whilst it faffed around after i put windows office on it. Took days to find proper login details again. I had all the silly security codes we have to receive to retrieve. How can i receive them if my puter is off line? What hassle. Not had these probs before but i'm back up and running.

There is a definite chill in the air now when i wake up. Today i've washed all my summer washing and it's going away into draws until next summer i expect. I've had the thermals back on for a while now and they'll stay that way. My winter woollies are washed and dried ready for use this week onward as is the electric blanket on the bed and also one on the sofa. I've got my throw ready too. Our fuel bills are in crisis. People will be paying loads more this year. Frankly it's going to mean we need to sacrifice something to make allowances for the fuel hikes. It's gas, electric, and petrol/diesel. But the prices are extortionately rising now. We also have a petrol crisis. So when i went to the hospital yesterday i did what i did when having chemo. Buy in enough supplies for 3 weeks/month and just use the bus for extra bits. Unfortunately i have a hole in the fuel tank half way up and i can't fill my car up more than half. I still have some in there and that will have to do me as i refuse to queue in stupidly long queues.

Turned out sunny yesterday after all. Strange. The church grounds that i walk through has all its crocus up! Normally they're there in spring! Haven't seen that before. I think the conker trees are doing them damage as they rain down on the fragile flowers. Sunny again today although we've obviously had rain over night.

Ron, sincerely hope all is well. Is it likely to be blood pressure or something. I fully comprehend the whinge about health care. Northampton General have refused to scan my brain in 2.5 years. The pains and pressure are all back and they won't even acknowledge it! I can't get my brain seen to. My aunt keeled over in the street with her reoccurrence of ovarian cancer. My onc said it's dangerous to scan brains!
 
Thanks Chris and Di. I have had 40 years of this problem with my nose . Only one Doc has actually done anything. He was an ENT specialist . That was about ten years ago and only because my cancer surgeon asked him to check it out . He initially thought it was a polyp but when he washed it out he found that it was an aneurysm on the center piece of my nose. He was going to operate ,remove the damaged vein and tie the ends off. Instead he used up 9 sticks of chemical cauteriser that burned it off. It has been ok till now. I will sleep on my lounge chair tonight and will not be able to use my CPAP. So much for growing old gracefully.Ron.
 
Oh,Ron.that must have been scarey.I'm glad it's sorted for now though,no matter how cack-handed the repair was.You couldn't make it up eh ?
13c and breezy here,so I hope that's the end of the warm weather for this year........but I hope it stays in the mid 20s in Di,Land....
 
Still upright thanks Chris . Feeling a bit fragile tho mate. Because I don't know what caused my problem this time I have no idea when and if it will happen again. I have an appointment with my GP next Tuesday. I will see what he says. I have not taken any warfarin since the bleed . I will probably start back on a low dose tomorrow night. We had a roof rattler thunder storm last night and we are expecting a bad one tomorrow night. I slept on my lounge chair last night, now I have a sore back to go with my sore face. Ron
 
It's been very windy again today with periods of rain and mainly heavy cloud cover. We reached a high of 13c. I may head out on another adventure tomorrow... I just can't get enough of this cool weather to go riding in. I've had to sleep in a recliner before, Ron. What a bugger! My best to all!

Storms all over the east coast yesterday with some strong winds , hail and heavy rain. A super cell in central west NSW spawned a tornado which caused some serious damage and minor injuries. Not common in Australian weather. Ron.
 
We're in for very wet weather this weekend. I'm just getting a couple of loads of washing on the go today, but it does look gloomy out there already. Thanks for the offer, Chris. I'll know who to contact then in the future, i'm just pleased i'm back on. Perhaps Carol has a problem with hers. She didn't post yesterday.
 
I'm always having arguments with this Bl**dy thing,but to be honest it's me not it. I do plan to PM Chris some time,trouble is I don't know how to explain some of the mess I get myself into.....14c and sparkley bright and breezy today.I had a bad gut morning so it was lunch time before I pulled myself together so just had an hours walk......nice of you to miss me y/day Di......it's the little things that matter.
 
I was out at the cabin cleaning up after the mice. It is very tranquil out in the bush, one would never know about all the problems we are facing. Nose bleeds are frustrating. I Iearned a trick from a summer student we once had at work who was studying sports medicine. I had a bleed and he told me to apply pressure to the veins directly above the two front teeth below the nose. It works better than crushing one's nose like those doctors did to your nose Ron. When I have a nose bleed I place some rolled up paper tissue in under my upper lip below the nose to apply pressure and the bleeding stops every time. I am not sure why this is not common knowledge in the medical field, but it works. 15C very warm for the time of year.
One trick I learned from the computer tech is to first download a program one wants to install, then turn off the internet connection temporarily which one can do or go into airplane mode before installing. Sometimes Microsoft intentionally disables a good install when it can detect it.
 
Very useful info, Buff. I do get regular nose bleeds. i shall give that technique a go. It's worth a try. Hopefully my computer is ok and all good now. I do do some courses online to keep me occupied and i do like documentaries on youtube.

No rain yet and apparently it should be bucketing down already. Not so just yet, got my washing drowning in the rain yesterday. Had to bring it in and spin it again. It's indoors drying now. No tumble drier as costs have risen as of yesterday. I'm budgeting.
 
13c and a dry morning but it's raining now.It's not as bad as forecast though. This country has gone to hell in a handcart.Not enough delivery drivers,100,000 short,just in time for Xmas.Fuel shortage,gas and electricity prices rising,empty shelves in the shops etc.etc.etc.......Not forgetting covid here is the worst in Europe and the hospital staff shortage is terrifying to say the least.......Now is the winter of our discontent !!!
 
12C with drizzle. I am watching with caution the energy shortages, and am taking steps to have extra firewood on hand. With my pension it leaves little wiggle room for sudden increases. We are experiencing inflationary pressure on the cost of food. Every week the price of some things like bread and eggs are rising by another dime or more. Enjoy the rides Chris, I have similar experiences as you do when I'm on the snowmobile or cross country skis.
 
31C predicted for today , not sure I am ready for that. Thanks again Buff, at 2.30 my nose let go again. Before it got to last weeks tsunami proportions I got some rolled up paper towel jammed up under my top lip and the bleeding certainly stopped quickly. I spent the rest of the early morning sleeping in my lounge chair and did not remove the paper pressure pad till 8.30 this morning. No further bleeding. Ron.
 
Will you be going to the Docs Ron ? Probably not after the last visit.But it might be a good Idea to write dates down for future reference.Good that you did what Buff recommended and it worked.I've got a good hic-up cure if anybody's laid low in the future......

11C gray. Good to hear it worked for you Ron. How many times I wished I could shake the hand and give the athletic young man a hug for his advice on handling nose bleeds. It was a wet day yesterday, and today is another, maybe I will do some cleaning and organizing in the basement, I have been ignoring it for too long.
 
It is a long weekend in Qld. Lots of people around. The national rugby league football final is always held in Sydney NSW but due to the covid outbreak it was shifted to Brisbane in Qld. It has been really hot and temps will continue in the high 20c and low 30c for the next week. The doctors are not open today so I have to wait till tomorrow. I have only taken low dose of warfarin on two days since last Wednesday when I was in hospital. The past two nights I have had to get up in the middle of the night with further nose bleeds. They are getting harder to stop. I go thru times like this when a lot of my chronic health problems suddenly become acute. My auto immune kidney problems are in a flare/ When i went to bed last night my feet and legs were badly swollen. When this happens my nephrologist tells me to double my lasik and restrict my fluid intake to a litre a day. I will try that and see if things improve though it is not easy to get by on a litre a day when the temps are 30c Ron.
 
Sounds absolutely awful, Ron. I hope your health improves soon.
Much sunnier yesterday than predicted. Today, well, at least this am, the sun is shining but my neighbour is so noisy with all his engineering equipment. Don't know how his wife with MS can cope with the racket. I have taken myself out due to the unbelievable noise at times. Carol, i think it's going to be lovely on Thursday. You might want to start your hibernation early, lol. I'm all prepared with all my winter clothes washed and summer clothes put away. There is definitely a chill around the place that does indicate that summer has vanished. Not getting the heating on though. Costs too much lol.
 
12C with some sunshine. Good to see the sun after the wet weekend. Time to get more done outside. I hope things will improve Ron, living on one liter of fluids per day would be very difficult. Di, perhaps you could return the favor to your noisy neighbour by turning up the stereo to drown out his noise. Years ago we had noisy neighbors, I'd return the favor using the chainsaw cutting firewood in the morning when they were still hung over trying to get some sleep.
 
I felt hot yesterday, apparently the temp hit 36 C in Nambour, 32c today and 28c tomorrow. I got thru Monday night and today so far without a bleed. I see the doctor tomorrow. I haven't used cpap or warfarin for three nights. About twenty years ago I went thru a bad patch and both of my shoulders froze. The treatment was worse than the problem so I waited 18 mos and they finally freed up. My left shoulder has been causing pain for the last month and I am pretty sure it is freezing up again. I can't lift it to the side past waist high. I'm starting to think I must have been a real arsehole in a previous life cause karma is really catching up now. Ron.
 
Pouring with rain since early morning and 12c. There was a gap,so we had a walk and got home just before the next deluge. If I could have one wish it would be that I was as fit as I once was.....it doesn't arf creep up on you eh ?
And the worse thing is .....there's no going back.
 
Sunny and warm again. Ron, I have to agree, to have been given such a lousy hand of cards in life I must be paying for something I did very wrong in a previous life. I know it could be worse, but its bad enough. Chris that ride sounds like a great idea, take in the good while you have it.
 
Life is a bit rotten at times. I can testify to that myself. As if Crohns wasn't enough to contend with.
So, today it's very sunny and some real warmth and i'm challenging my overgrown buddleia. I've probably put pay to next years caterpillars but i hope not. Hadn't done it for three years but if i don't hack at it now then i never will as it's a tad tall for a small woman like me. Should be nice again tomorrow. Sincerely hope it's cooler for you Carol up in that part of the UK. I'm enjoying it though.
 
10C with fog, I hope it lifts. Fuel prices went up overnight to levels we have not seen before, its only going to add more to the growing dissent and misery for many. I am glad to live rural given the discontent, violence and vandalism in the urban areas. Yesterday could have been any year around here. The weather was good, I serviced the snowmobile and found the chainbox in good condition, before making a decent supper where I had some appetite. Will see where today goes.
 
20c and grey.Made the most of it and had a nice bike ride.None of us know what tomorrow might bring.Ron,have you seen the doc yet ?
We had our flu jabs y/day and also a text telling us to apply for our covid boosters when it's been 6mnths since our second jabs.That will be in a couple of weeks.
 
10C Gray. I worked on wood yesterday and decided to give the neighbor who essentially lives in poverty my pile of metal roofing I really have no need for that has been sitting for years. His roof is in tatters, shingles all standing up dog eared. He will help me around here with jobs I need help with.
 
Not at all sunny and not as warm as predicted. I'm somewhat disappointed. I wasn't expecting it to be so cold Carol can off for a bike ride. Were you sweating buckets, Carol? Was hoping to finish off the garden today, but i haven't, i've got loads of abdominal pains so i've had a lazy day today. Let's be hopeful it's more productive tomorrow.
 
30c today and 30 mm of rain predicted for next week. Yes Carol I saw him on Wednesday. He had a look up my nose and did see an area that looks like a ruptured vein. He didn't have a flexible nasal scope so he gave me some ointment called nasalate which is used for nasal surgery recovery . I have to use it three times a day for seven days and see what happens. I can tell you it isn't fun squeezing ointment up your nose and spreading it around with a cotton bud. He also wants me to have an echo cardiograph to see if there is any heart valve problems that may be causing the swelling in my feet and ankles. Ron.
 
The trouble with being a crohnie,well one of them,is the unreliability of it.None of us know how we'll feel from one day to the next.But please be sensible and rest if you need to.The jobs will still be there when you're up to it.I know I'm preaching to the converted......It's really warm today.20c and not a breathe of wind......what is sure is that it wont last long
 
15C warm and humid for the time of year. I slept better last night after yesterday's sleepless day. I had to go to the ostomy clinic, and it turned into a chrony day. Being fatiqued, I walked into two stores maskless for a few moments until I realized I had to get the mask back on, and nearly totalled the truck at an intersection when I failed to see the vehicle coming towards me that had the same gray color as the wet roads on that drizzling day. Luckily I saw it at the last moment. It was time to go home. The main thing was I got everything done, and returned in one piece without making news headlines.
 
It was -5c this morn and it had risen to 5c so far. What a day, Buff! I'm happy you're in one piece. I certainly don't want to read about you in the back section of the newspaper, (epecially in an untimely manner). I've had similar days with near misses... I call it time to quit! One day after sawing through a pile of lumber with a circular saw... I was tired and felt underneath the board to see if the saw was cutting all the way through... Real smart! Thankfully, I realized I was being complacent and so, I put the saw away. No more power tools or driving when I'm in a fog! Damn Crohn's.
 
Another calm sunny day and 14c.....Both of us are suffering from aches and pains (maybe a sign the colder weather is on the way or is that an old wives tale ?) Anway,I digress hahaha.We had an hours walk through the park across the way and followed the path through the trees and found a seat.
We are sooo lucky to have the park,the river and the coast within easy walking distance and the town is also easy access.Mind you,as each year passes the walking pace gets slower.But I enjoy the cycling too.......not much to complain about really.....but no doubt I'll find something soon.
 
14 mild with a morning thunderstorm. Its been a wet weekend doing indoor things for now. I'll cook up some chicken for a good meal later. I have a lot of respect for power tools Chris, especially anything with a circular saw blade attached to it, as they are very unforgiving tools.
 
30c here today 21c tomorrow. It has been windy for weeks which has the rural firefighters on high alert. The nasal cream seems to be working very well with no nose bleeds even using cpap. Tomorrow is the last day I can use it . It works by dilating blood vessels and prolonged use can cause other problems, Ron.
 
Hazy sunshine today. It's been a nice week-end, not complaints from me. Hopefully, i'm nearly sorted in the garden. Will be so pleased to see the back of the bine stem weeds for then winter. Birds are starting to sing of an evening now, they had stopped after their fledglings flew. there's always a lull, but then it's nice to hear them (well, that's when my neighbour isn't busy digging up his massive concrete patio).
 
Another nice day,13c and sunny.Had a cycle to the coast and blissfully a lot quieter than of late.We have a lovely boating lake with ducks,just over the road from the beach, where we sat and looked out to sea while having a coffee.....Now don't panic my friends, but I've just seen a headline predicting a solar flare heading to Earth very soon......But it's probably "Fake News" I hope.
 
Destructive rains overnight with a lot of lightning. Woke up to find a large section of my driveway washed out I'll deal with it later I can still drive over it. Too much rain, the ground cannot absorb more and it then runs off. The forecast continues to be calling for wet weather all week. Maybe that solar flare will bring out some sunshine, or at least dry out the damned cloud.
 
12C drizzle. I worked all afternoon filling in the washouts on the driveway and did part of it. The worst is on the hill above the parking area, not sure what to do, but will probably have to get someone in with a machine to grade it. Down below the township will have to fix the side road, I can get through with the truck, but a small car may not get through. The forecast is wet all week long.
 
We have been warned to expect severe super cells to move slowly thru our area on Thursday and Friday. They expect them to be accompanied by very large hail. We have had a lot of supercells come thru in the past few years and some of the hail storms were severe with extreme damage to vehicles and homes. I hope they are wrong about this week. Ron.
 
10C Gray and wet. I've called the township and the ministry of transport and nobody called back and the road below is still washed out. I cleaned house yesterday and will do more today. During breakfast I watched the Blue Origin rocket into suborbital space and William Shatner who played Captain Kirk on Startrek was taken aback from the experience.
 
Not receiving notifications at the moment which is a tad annoying. Never mind, there has still been weather. It's definitely colder but i'm resisting the heating. The sun is white and covered by clouds but it wants to come through.

Unfortunately my dearly beloved 17.5 year old cat is in her last days. I've had to put plastic sheets over everything. Fortunately i don't have too much carpet, but i didn't know she could tiddle that much lol. It's so sad, but she didn't die yesterday on my birthday, she just threatened to. Bless her.

I still have to finish the garden i must admit, but i'm on a go slow at the moment. Our cold wet weather is about to arrive. Many of you are colder than us at the moment and Ron has higher temps than we had all summer. Oh well, at least our weather is very tame and predictable.
 
10C, The sun came out for a short visit this morning and now its gone again. We had a good fall up until last week, but it appears we are going through the worst of it now, and it can only get better as winter approaches for it could not possibly get any worse weather wise, well unless it was a tornado. If it were not for the covid and mask requirements I would book a flight visit family and get away from here.
 
Not so cold today although no real sun again. My cat is still living but i'm washing loads of stuff cos she's peeing everywhere. I've taken to taking her to the loo with me each time i go just to try and get her to pee in the right place. It's doing ok really. She's not eaten or drunk much today, but as far as i'm concerned she's still wonderful.
 
Storms are wrecking havoc on the east coast from Sydney to north of Brisbane. In western Sydney Westfield shopping centre had to be evacuated when large hail and heavy rain collapsed the roof. We had hail yesterday and heavy rain and the gold coast hinterland had over 100mm yesterday. More supercells and possible tornadoes expected today, Armidale in northern NSW was hit by a tornado around 10pm last night. Lots of damage but no reports of casualties so far. Ron.
 
10c and fine....Di., I'm really sad to hear your dear friend is on her last legs.I remember you were worried that you would go before she did so at least that's out of the way.You don't need me to tell you that it's bloody awful at this time in her life,but you did your best for her and loved her and that's all she needed. Sending hugs and support.x
 
Much sunnier today though i'm too tired to appreciate it. Squeaky had a restless night so i did too. She's had a fair amount of water and a couple of mouthfuls of water and is still peeing on me. I'm not going to say no to final cuddles. She's the only companion that i have now so she's quite important. I'm trying to prepare myself for the bungalow with just little old me in it. But yes, i am pleased she is going before me.

Ron, the hail is on youtube. Looks horrendous. Didn't know a shopping centre had its roof collapse. Terrible. You get bad weather only. It's worse than British weather. Stay safe from the rain and destruction.
 
Di I can relate to what you are going through, I've had many cats and in the end I was in the same situation you are in; keeping them comfortable and caring and cleaning up behind them until they would pass away on their own terms. Each cat was always very difficult, and during that time I would come close to tears when I would walk through the pet section of the store. When the cat would pass, this house would become unbelievably empty, for its not a home without a pet. Sending you and your cat a hug over the length of the seas.
