What you guys do during a flare up.

When I still had my colon, if things went downhill, I would basically act like I was a stoned college kid. My diet consisted of pot, Gatorade and instant ramen.

Not the best diet but, it kept going.

I'm the same way when I'm having a flare up, except I switch the ramen out for animal crackers. I know it's not the best method but if it keeps things under control then i'm all for it. I've never been very anti drugs anyway so it doesn't bother me.

The only difference nutrition wise is that Ramen has way more salt that helps with the loss of electrolytes due having the runs. Animal crackers are probably more nutritious than the ramen.

Yeah. The difference is that I'm not like registered for medical marijuana, I just ask my friend for some when I'm getting bad. She's my life saver.

And Yeah, like when I'm not feeling great, I don't feel like eating a lot of solid food. OS animal crackers are perfect:) They're little and easy to suck on till they're super soft and easy to digest. Plus I like to take out my anger on them and bite their legs off.. mwahaha xD

A good liquid source of electrolytes that I have come across, Coconut water and Celery juice.

Coconuts are the miracle food in my diet. Fibre is a bit much for sensitive times so I just stick to the water and oil.

Celery juice is good. Takes all the fibre out/so just get the good stuff (trying to link this conversation back to section of furom, celery is both green and good) I mix with beetroot to get some iron back in me. During a flare I have no trouble downing a coupe of glasses of BR straight up.

Also just finishing first time on Cortisone after 3 years of diagnosis. Found that I really craved for peel from citrus, I had bad skin, pimply worse then teenage yrs. Hands were very soft and thin skinned. Someone was saying the other day at market that citrus peel is very good for skin. Thought I would just put all this out there, may find its useful or works for you, may not.

GI :)

So is smoking the best method all of you have found for flares? Is there a specific strain you use?

Smoking is the worse delivery method regardless of the situation. The only advantages smoking offers is

1) Speed - inhalation delivers the cannabinoids into your bloodstream very quickly, especially compared to edibles
2) Practical - all you need is some paper to roll the joint

The slew of disadvantages include wasting cannabinoids and the obvious health downsides of constantly depositing fibrous matter on your lung tissue.

Vaporizers offer all the benefits of inhalation without the health consequences of combusting your herbs, but they aren't as practical. For medicinal purposes however, I really suggest buying a vaporizer. A model like the Arizer Solo can be purchased for around $140 in America.

Ultimately, when flaring, you want tinctures or edibles to treat the flare, and vaporizers (or tinctures) as a palliative treatment to handle the pain and discomfort. Tinctures can be quick-acting as well if you swoosh them around in your mouth like a mouth wash until it's all been absorbed. Sublingual delivery is very similar to inhalation in terms of how quickly relief can be felt.

TL: DR
Edibles/tinctures is best for flares, vaporization as a secondary or palliative treatment
