I've been cruising along quite well since Miss Piggy came along, until 3 days ago. Mid afternoon I started getting tummy cramps, unlike any I can remember, I feel really sore, tummy swollen and only passing liquid. Forgot to mention on the day it started, my bag was completely empty from bag change (7am) until 9(pm). Just looked like a brand new bag all day, even around the Stoma. I didn't even have any gas. So since then been getting the cramps, passing liquid water, with undigested bits of food. All freaking me out a bit, too scared to go see doctor. I've been using a heat bag to help with the pain, gently massaging the area and keeping my fluids up.

Uh oh. That doesn't sound good.
Could it be a blockage? I've never had one - so no idea.
Perhaps a trip to the doc?

In supposed to be taking my twins to state hockey trials today in Adelaide and then stay for the week for the Sapsasa carnival. At least I will already be in adelaide. It's just the 4 hour drive today that is worrying me. Feeling a bit better.

It does seem like a blockage. I had a few and this was the symptoms. Pain, that can end up being very intense and well, nothing that passes in the stoma at the exception of green-yellowish fluid at times. Avoid eating until it unblocks, stick with liquid or ensure. The doctor was telling me to go and consult if it was not getting within a few hours. The longest it took for mine to resolve on their own was roughly 12 hours but at that point I was vomiting myself and hoped I could get to a hospital (I was stucked in the wood at the time...). I had to get morphine for them a few time as it was intolerable.

There are like 3 main reason why this is happening, it can be stenosis or inflammation linked to the disease, it can be a strictly food related mechanical blockage (for instance it happened to me when I ate raw carrot, all bran and orange back to back, it did not work out...) or it can be a volvulus. I think you should consult or mentioned it to your GI.

Thanks,
I'm pleased to say that it has resolved itself. Absolute agony while it lasted. I'm wondering if it was mechanical, as I had whole grain bread the other day. Knew I shouldn't, but it was all they had left at the work canteen. I will not do that again.

Thank goodness!! I had a similar experience just a few nights ago. Still not sure what I ate that caused the trouble, but luckily it resolved itself after a few hours.

It's never fun, that's for sure!
