High Fecal Calprotectin but Nothing from Colonoscopy

In the UK my docs say that anything over 50 is 'abnormal' in the calprotectin test. I've ranged from 79 to 300 and although not particularly high was enough for my GI to get me to have the pill cam which found ulcers. From this she diagnosed me! Maybe the ranges are different in different places.

Reducing Inflammation through Diet - Is this working?

I have gone dairy free and my calprtectin level went from the 300's to 80! I don't know if there is any link but a big coincidence if not. I am less bloated. I've just done another test and will see what happens with that. I am currently not on any medication which worries me slightly as I don't...

How often to have pill cam?

I've had one pill cam. I stopped eating dairy about a month ago and my.faecal calprotectin went down to 74 from 300 but still have symptoms. I just think my GI will think I'm better now! I'm not on any meds at the moment as came off azathioprine as it made me feel rotten! The doc also said not...

How often to have pill cam?

Hi. I was diagnosed my pill cam as colonoscopy was clear. Many people have routine colonoscopies to see how things are progressing but my GI didn't seem to think another pillcam was necessary. Isn't it really the only way of finding out what is happening on my insides? I'd like to know if it's...

    Weird feeling...

Sounds a nightmare. Wythenshaw can't be any worse so your mum's probably right. I'm under Trafford as that was where I was first sent when they messed up my colonoscopy. I get to see my GI about once every 3 months but don't have any access to IBD nurses. Basically, she asks me to think about...

    Weird feeling...

I agree with your comments about the hospital and waiting lists. For me, everything seems like a battle! What hospital are you under sophabulous? I'm in Stockport so not far away from you!

Confused about whether to start Humira.

Hi. I saw my GI last week. After not getting on with Azathioprine she mentioned that I should think about going on Humira. I was diagnosed by pill can last year but my latest calprotectin test was only 74 down from 350 without doing anything! I don't really know whether to go on the Humira or...

    Struggling with Aza

Hi, my GI thinks I have 'probable' small bowel crohn's. I was on Budesonide which made me feel better and then 50mg of aza for 4 weeks which was OK with a few side effects. On Saturday she upped my dose to 100mg and I feel I have been hit by a truck. No energy, aches and pains everywhere and...

    Diagnosed yesterday....

I got formally diagnosed yesterday at my appointment with my G.I. Don't really know how I feel. I need to continue with my steroids and start taking azathioprine after having blood tests on Monday. In a way I'm pleased I finally got a diagnosis but not really sure how I feel about it now...

    Side effect of budesonide?

No I haven't yet. If it continues for the next few days I might make an appointment. Not due to see my GI doc until middle of may.

    Side effect of budesonide?

I've been taking 3 tablets for about 3 weeks now and generally feel much better. No abdominal pain or bloating, no achey joints and not half as tired. However, when I first wake up I have pain in my chest, ribs and back. It eases throughout the day but I do feel thirsty all the time. Is this...

    The Amitriptyline Club Support Group

Yes, its a tricyclic and very similar by all accounts. I don't know why my doc gave me this and not amiltriptyline but they both seem to do the same!

    Blood test results.....confused as usual!

Hi all I've just had my blood test results. All are in green apart from the following Total white blood count 15.5 (3.7-11) Neutrophil 11 (1.7-7.5) Monocyte 2.1 (0.2-1.1) Although these are higher than they should be, when I rang the gp I was told that all my tests were normal and the doctor...

Doctors don't know what they're doing.....

I've posted a few times about how I am undiagnosed and my GI seems reluctant to diagnose anything. Anyway, she was said she would fax a prescription to my GP for some Prednisone however my GP never got that fax. When my GP looked through my notes he started talking about Crohn's and gave me 5...

Just been given a 5 day course of steroids.....

Thanks for the replies guys. Spoke to GIs secretary this morning and she was supposed to ring me back today but didnt! Haven't got any follow up appointments booked and usually just have to wait for a letter which will probably be in a few months! GP didn't tell me to make another appointment...

Just been given a 5 day course of steroids.....

Its all a bit of a mess. GI doctor didn't fax prescription so gp gave me the steroids. I've had a pill cam which showed inflammation and ulcers and a raised faecal calprotectin level (317). Just so confused!

Just been given a 5 day course of steroids.....

Hi. As title says. Is this normal. Doc said would hopefully reduce inflammation but hasn't told me what happens then. Also, is only 5 days enough? Can anyone help me! Thanks.

    Oooops pressed send twice!

    Which blood tests?

Thanks for the reply. Doctor said blood tests a good idea although he didn't know what I'm feeling so tired after bowel movements. He kept talking about how crohns affects people and I had to tell him I haven't been diagnosed yet! I've also got 5 days worth of steroids to take! No answers just...
