Bad experience with doctor - need advice

Out of the office? What if your son has an emergency? Honestly, they sound absolutely terrible.

    I cannot deal with this

My son gains a few lbs then will stay at that weight for some time. He stayed around 100 for 2 months or so and then gained 11 lbs by eating a lot of peanut butter (like a half cup per day)...hasn't gained any recently though...staying around 108 - 111.

    Mum of crohns

My 16 year old was also diagnosed in March. :( He's attending school half days and half online, due to lack of energy and some mild symptoms. He's in "remission" but he doesn't feel perfect. And I know things could get A LOT worse. :( He's a sensitive boy, stress really bothers him, so we...

In pain and feeling worse :(

I'm not sure what Crohn's disease is, really. 2 of my kids have it and have had very different symptoms, one being essentially cured by diet, while the other struggles every day, to some degree, though not as bad as many here. It's hard for me to believe my kids have the same disease. Doctors...

    Reintroducing solid foods...

Son went from 6 weeks of EEN to pureed soups and smoothies, introducing each food one at a time...still drinks juice with water 50/50. He's on the SCD and doing pretty well...

Any Nurses or other healthcare workers with IBD?

My daughter has Crohn's and she is an RN, although she has been symptom and drug free for 8 years. She works 12 hour shifts, but there is a lot of down time. It's been a great career for her, so far. Good income, benefits, and the freedom to live pretty much anywhere.

My fathers expectaions. i need help.

People brag about what they work through, while bringing others down, oblivious to the damage they are doing. He left you when you were 13. Then gave you terrible care when you had a fever of 105. If I had a nickel for everytime I've seen a good kid chase after a bad parent...:(

How Do You Manage to Handle Your Life?

Is the child receiving benefits? I ask because when my husband was laid off in the mid 90's, we would have been eligible, but we didn't think to apply. :(

    Forks over knives

This generation isn't expected to live as long as their parents did, though. They eat a lot of junk and sit around on the computer all day. I've been vegan since 1999, and my children who have Crohn's were eating mostly vegan when they got the disease in 04' and 11'?

How Do You Manage to Handle Your Life?

I think your schedule would be too much for most healthy people. Imo, it could be reasonable to work full time OR go to school full time, while trying to raise a child and battle a disease, but definitely not both. My (healthy) husband was forced to do both when our older son was an infant and...

2 kids with Crohn's (oy vey...)

It honestly didn't seem that hard for him. He and I saw it as the least awful choice. He distracted himself with his gadgets/music/movies and actually grew to LIKE the Peptamen. He would say that he was hungry and go drink 2 of them... He was SO happy when the 6 weeks was over, though!

How to keep your privacy when it comes to health

Anytime someone asks me anything that I don't want to answer, I give very vague answers or instead of answering, I ask them a question.

2 kids with Crohn's (oy vey...)

It seems efficient to divide it up that way, to me. Our oldest was diagnosed at 24. She was given a round of steroids (got moon face) and went on the SCD and has been symptom/drug free for 8 years. She's not on the diet any longer, but she tries to go easy on starches. Our youngest was...

Son in remission. More confused than ever about what to feed him.

We decided to give the SCD a try. So, no sugar, chocolate, grains... Son eats a lot of yogurt and fruit, pureed soups and smoothies. Nothing processed.

What do you do in this situation ???

I'd ask my son if he could wait until the morning and then I would go get him. I don't tell my son what he can handle, as I can't feel what he's feeling. Each person is different though. Babying my son seems to give him the strength to be independent.

It sounds like a bump in the road to me. My son lost and regained the same 7 lbs about 4 times...

Friend told people I had Crohn's

My 16 year old son wanted to tell everyone right off the bat, also posted on fb while still in the hospital. He had been picked on a little in weight class when he couldn't lift much and after he was diagnosed, he dared people to make fun of someone with a chronic illness, as it would make them...

    Scd

My husband made fish for my son with the almond flour, but he wouldn't eat it, even though it looked really good and my husband said it was. My son is trying to eat some meat. It's funny because I'm trying to find him foods that taste like the foods he grew up eating (as a vegetarian) so I...

    Hungry all the time?

Son had a huge appetite in the hospital and he was only on steroids for 3 days. They brought him tiny meals and after 15 minutes, he would be asking about the next one. He was malnourished and they wanted to avoid refeeding syndrom. Now that he's in remission and not on steroids, he has a...
