    Re-started Remi yesterday...

My improvement with Remicade started gradually, and went to about 95% remission in a few months. I bleed on and off, but it's not terrible frequent. For seemingly no reason at all. I wouldn't be in any hurry to introduce a lot of fruits and veggies back until you are sure that you are feeling...

    Hiyass!~

Hi Jobengals! I do remember seeing you around here, and I thought that you had some good contributions to the mmj threads. Odd that those would all be gone now, I searched for them to see if I could find your old account but came up with nothing. Or maybe I am mistaken and that's not you at...

Surgery for removal of skin tags

My surgeon said that he would not remove the skin tags, because they would just grow back. However, I ended up having surgery for a perianal fistula, and right before I went under I said "Hey, while your down there, can you chop those off?" He did. They grew back. Since I have been in...

Did your small fistula heal on its own?

Mine would not heal with draining and antibiotics. My surgeon was going to put in a seton, but in the middle of surgery decided to scoop the whole thing out. (For lack of better words) That healed nicely, but either it came back in the same place, or a new one popped up in the same place...

    Remicade Club Support Group

I'm almost done with infusion #17! I had 7 bloody craps yesterday. I thought that was funny timing, the day before Remi. I usually only have 2 non-bloody ones. This morning I was mostly better though, so it must have been the 800 extra calories of picnic food I ate the day before. Yum. Did...

    Insurance question

As far as I know, as long as you maintain insurance without dropping it, you can't be denied for a pre-existing condition. We have switched insurance companies 3 times since my diagnosis, and I have had no problems. I'm not sure where you live, but if you lose your job in the USA you can...

    Asacol and breastfeeding

I took asacol while breastfeeding for 11 3/4 months. They switched me to that from Sulfasalazine (which is similar). Not sure why sulfa isn't safe for breastfeeding, but asacol supposedly is. Maybe the molcules are different sizes?

    Pregnancy with Crohn's and fistulas

Lydia is right. I had a vaginal delivery with a recto-veg fistula, and everything went fine. No problems at all, just blood coming out my butt when I pushed, tee-hee.

    My Butt Hurts

You rang? Just kidding. If you can't find Calmoseptine at your local drug store/pharmacy, they should be able to order it and have it in a day or so. I know that Walgreen's will order it for you if they don't have it in stock. I would be miserable without it, even in remission I use it at...

Learning what to eat is hard...

Could it have been the egg? Eggs give me painful gas.

5 yrs old and starting Sulphasalazine!

Sulfasalazine was the first med I was ever on for Crohn's, and it kept me in remission for quite some time. I had no side effects from it. I had to switch to asacol so I could breastfeed. I'm not sure, but I seem to remember something about drinking enough water while being on it. You could...

    Thoughts on tysabri?

That's exactly what I heard. People are scared of the incurable brain infection. (I think that's what it was anyways.) I wouldn't hesitate to try Cimzia. I had pretty good luck with Humira for a little while and am having great luck with Remicade now. I'm hoping that if Remicade stops...

    Asacol Issue

My insurance company approved Humira, but when it started failing, they would not authorize a double dose until I tried Remicade. Did you get a reason from them on why they denied it? I just want to say that this is not true in my case. Sulfasalazine was the first med I was ever put on and it...

    Sulfasalazine for Ulcerative Colitis question

Sulfasalazine was the very first med I was ever put on, and it did keep me in remission for quite some time. I can't remember if I was taking prednisone at the same time or not, but I think I was - so that might have helped it kick in to working. I have Crohn's though, not UC. I hope it works...

    Remicade failing once again?

I did not have Remicade fail me (yet) it is working very well. But I did have Humira fail me after 4 months, and people told me that Remicade was too similar and if Humira didn't work anymore, then neither would Remicade. 2 years later, it's still working. Have you tried Humira? I would not...

    Has Anyone Tried Aloe?

I just typed 'aloe intestinal bleeding' into the Yahoo search bar and I didn't have any popups on any of the sites I checked out. I have no idea who Dr. Standley is, but here is a quote from his site - "DO NOT take Aloe Vera if you are pregnant or if you have any gastro-intestinal disorders...

    Has Anyone Tried Aloe?

I heard that it could cause bleeding when taken intestinally, especially for Crohn's patients. I don't have a link, but you could probably find that info online. I seem to remember reading that it was good for IBS, but not for Crohn's.

    Corned Beef and Cabbage??

Ha! Someone bumped this thread from THREE years ago! Hilarious. Anyways - I think I wasn't in remission at the time, but I am now. We had it and I didn't get one bit of pain and it was deeeeeeeelicious!
