Hi

I am new to this and hope someone may recognise any of my symptoms or situation.
I am a type 1 diabetic taking insulin and various other medications and for the past 8 months have been really unwell with stomach cramps, pains, bloating etc. I have had problems in the past with constipation and they diagnosed with IBS and gave me Mebeverine which i never really found that helpful. In Sep 2011 I was really unwell with glandulafever which then led to my current problems. I regularly suffer with haemorroids and pain when passing motions and sometimes blood. I have had various tests done, Endoscopy, Flexible Sigmoidoscopy, Ultrasound and MRI Bowel study.
I went to my doctor (no.3) yesterday and he tells me the Endoscopy showed gastritis, the MRI showed a slight back up of faeces and the flexible sigmoidoscopy was stopped due to it being extremely painful and uncomfortable. He seems to think i just have IBS but it feels more than that??? I have alot of spider Nevi marks so he is now going to carry out a more in depth ultrasound of my liver, vessels and nerves.
I take alot of medication as I have had a full hysterectomy 8 years ago, aged 30. Statins & Insulin for my diabetes and now he has prescribed Amitriptyline 20mg, domperidone 10mg and movicol. I did try Metroclopramide but had some adverse reactions to this. I have also tried a gluten free diet to rule out Coeliac Disease.
I am really struggling with the pain, discomfort, tiredness, feelings of bad tastes in my mouth, bloated and generally horrible on a daily basis. It really is affecting me and i really desperately would like a clear diganosis. Please help if you can ??

Is the taste in your mouth a metalic taste?
A metalic taste Unfortunatley can be linked to many different diseases.
This is also a symtom of diabetes which will make it hard for doctors to associate that specific symptom with another disease.
Some GI diseases are linked to diabetes as well as other diseases.
I would highly suggest you contact your doctor for varied tests.
I replied to your other post with tests which usually identify a GI disease and in some cases, other diseases.
I know its easier said than done, but try relax through this and don't panic.
I am in the same situation as you "undiagnosed for over 10 years" only started searching last 4 years.
It's a long process so you need to keep your head together at all costs.
Let us know how you go

Thanks for your advice. The problem with diabetes is there are so many things linked to this complaint. I have been diabetic for over 30 years now but really beginning to suffer, had cataracts removed last year at age 37 !!
I just yearn to be pain free and return to work and a 'normal' life soon.
My doctor just said I will probably never be 100% again but possible 75%, who knows !!!
Frustrating not knowing what painkillers to take as paracetamol doesn't do anything but then haven't found anything as yet that does.
Hope all works out for you

Diabetes like other diseases is usually degenerative meaning it only gets worse as you age.
My dad has type 2 and was told to really get his act together with his diet or he will require insulin.
My dad has changed his diet to a healthy diet and is resuming life quite well.
You have had diabetes a lot longer so it's a different situation with implications.
See your doctor as soon as you can to try find a path to management or detection.
See a doctor who is willing to spend more than 5 minutes with u.
If a doctor try's to cut u short, see one who will spend the time and manage your situation.
