Hang in there, Ames! I am sending lots of thoughts and prayers your way!

So sorry Amy. Hope the NG tube is a brief thing...and that you at least have pain relief.
all the best.

Oh no, Amy, not the blasted NG tube. The dreaded obstruction---yuck! Four days is a loooong stint---I hope you feel like yourself again in no time!

Sending you lots of healing energy for a quick recovery

Aww, Ames, so sad to hear this :-( Thinking of you, love, and hope they get you sorted and back home soon

Hey Amy, I hope and wish that the 4 days will pass in no time and you'll be back to your better self. Take care and hope you get well in no time.

Lotsa hugs!

I'm sorry to hear this Amy! I sure hope you are feeling better. God bless you. :)

Hey! Look at me, I'm famous!

Thanks for posting, Joanie, and thanks everyone for the well-wishes.

I guess it IS possible to eat too much fiber in one day! Ha! Note to everyone - wheatberries DO NOT digest!

The obstruction passed last night. But it was a really rough coupla days there. Oh, the pain!!! And the nausea. Did I mention the pain? I was on a good zofran & dialauded cocktail which did the trick for the most part, but I was pretty hopped up for a couple days. Then last night, I was so nauseous, had a great big hurl into the basin and Bam! Out came the obstruction and I was like baa-baa black sheep. Yes sir, yes sir, I had three bags full within a minute! It just all came flying out!

I'm still really sore in my belly, and Bilbo is a little swollen so there is def inflammation. But I don't think it's a flare. I am going to have to send all my records and tests to my usual GI team to have them read and see what they think. I am at the local hospital (no need to schlep an hour away for an NG and some bowel rest, right?) and they have been taking really good care of me, but I am seeing the internist here, not a GI specific team. But it's nice to know good care is just two miles from home.

Thanks again for the well-wishes. I will keep you posted! It's back to lo-res and pureed food for me for a little while!!

I'm glad to see you are feeling a little better. Your sense of humor is still intact, so that's a good thing.

Hey Ames, sorry I missed this but glad it seems to be on the uptick! I hope you're right and Bilbo's just a little angry over his temporary vacation! The best to you buddy!!

Amy, I just saw this thread - sorry to hear about the obstruction, and glad you are doing somewhat better now! I've never heard of wheatberries before but I will definitely avoid them, whatever they are (I'm assuming they're a type of berry that isn't actually made of wheat, but the name is a little confusing! Either way it sounds undigestible!). I hope you get back to feeling 100% again very soon. Take care!

Good to see you Amy!
bet that was a little hairy for a while!
take care and get well very soon

Honey...shit that puppy right out and I'm glad you're on the mend!!! Lets hear it for shits!!! (of the sloppy stoma kind)

Hey Amy, I am so sorry of your pain, I know all about obstructed bowels had to many to count.. they wanted to stick tubes in me and I said no way, I'd rather throw up til my Ribs kill me. There is no greater pain, my obstructions were from raw carrots, hotdogs, and meat. My worst times were on my days. Narrowing sucks and my biggest fear. Hope you are ok, and use digestive enzymes they help me with risky foods, after 2 resections it is a must. So glad you made it! Big Hugs!xx

Oh my gosh! Well get some rest and let yourself heal. And make sure you avoid those (wheatberries?) in the future!

Thinking of you.

I am so happy you are on the up swing.

I hope you feel lots better real soon.

Hmm, on the list of "Foods that Cause Obstruction", wheatberries never showed up, but I have now written it down. Like Cat, I have no idea what they are, but it is on my list to avoid!

I'm glad that the wheatberry has taken the hint and gotten the heck out of your body. I hate to think of my 'club-mates' in pain with the nightmarish NG tube stuck up their nose!!

Hope you get sprung out real soon and get back to enjoying the rest of your summer.

Cheers,

Kismet

that was hilarious about being famous. It really was a laugh out loud.
I hope you are doing better ..sadly, I feel I can relate..lol... no more berries for you huh? ...

Scary ? I am finding this disease very unpredictable. I learn a lot from everyone here. Note to self - no wheatberries... (I dont know what they are)...

Thanks for such warm wishes everyone! I am home now and on solids, well, chicken noodle soup, anyway, and doing well. I am particularly touched that Pen came out of retirement to wish me well!!

And can you believe that five days later I AM STILL SHITTING OUT WHEATBERRIES! One just came out this morning!

Lessons I have learned:
Smaller meals, more often
Chew, chew, chew
No more heavy-duty fiber

I don't ever want to go thru that again, but honest injun, at the first inkling, I am headed to the ER.

The biggest bonus to being sick is having mom and dad come for a visit for a few days!

Be well, everyone, and keep chewing!!

xo -Ames

LOL! Well get all those little suckers out so you can eat something besides chicken soup!

Thank you for sharing your experience and taking the time to post when you're so sick; I know you've suffered so much but know that by sharing all of us learn and benefit from your experiences, both good and bad.

Get well soon!:thumright:

LOL -- just checked out what wheatberries are. Thanks for the warning. I ate those as a kid going through the wheatfields. I will remember not to do that ... then again, no kid no more either.

Anyhow, glad you are home and doing better. :)

Well....I'm just glad they werent Dingleberries!!! That woulda killed ya!

Seriously, glad you are home and had a visit from the folks....awwwwwwwwwwww!

Take very good care of yourself young lady!

I had several obstructions while I had my ostomy, and it was the worst pain I ever felt. EVER. But, as soon as they passed, I was great and Crohns free again. My husband still really misses my bag because I didn’t feel like a Crohnie at all when I had it. A part of him kind of hopes that I have a permanent one someday. You still happy with your Amy?

Hope you are doing great today, and learn to chew your food better from now on (kidding!).

Continue to rest up and take care of yourself Amy! I'm ignorant here; I don't know what wheatberries are.

Glad you are home

Hi Amy -

I just came across this thread. I'm glad to hear that you are home and feeling better. I hope that you are feeling 100% any day now.

What the heck is a wheatberry?

I am glad you are doing better and out of the dreaded hospital.

Dan

Thanks, everyone!

Since you asked, here is a picture of wheatberry salad!! They are whole wheat kernels.

Evil, I tell you! Evil!!

Feeling much better but i am still a little scared of food....

Eek, that looks painful! When you said wheatberries in a salad, I pictured berries on top of some lettuce. This is even more frightening than what I had pictured! I will definitely stay away from wheatberry salad.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Runs screaming from the room!!!!!!!!!!:eek::yfaint:
