So it all began when an idiot doctor prescribed to me strong antibiotics because i was tested for any sexual disease and it turned out i had chlamydia at some point of my life and was then gone but the doctor told me just in case to take the antibiotics (there were three, doxycycline was among them and i strongly believe it was the strongest) so i took them and now i am where i am, with Crohn's disease.

I have (what i belief is my colon) below my right rib inflamed, i can literally push it down with my hand, sometimes i can feel the other side of it under my left rib. HAS ANYONE ELSE OF YOU EXPERIENCED THIS?

I have realized processed food makes it worse (my worst enemy are called fries) and other fatty meals. The only relief i have found until now is one probiotic ive been buying.

My name is Frank just like my user and hello to all the community.

Sometimes antibiotics are necessary. I don't know if it's true for chlamydia but often the benefits of antibiotics outweigh the risks.

Has a doctor done an abdominal examination? If you think there's something abnormal happening when you press on certain areas an abdominal examination would be the best way to confirm that.

Yeah for chlamydia he prescribed doxycycline among two others and yes i went for a while to a gastroenterologist and she pressed on some parts of my lower belly and it hurted. I still havent had a colonoscopy but im planning on having it next month to finally see what is happening down there

Doxycycline is some nasty stuff. It's been linked to CD in the past, I was put on it for abscesses before knowing about the link and was flaring in the next day or so. I went back to my doctor and told them I needed a different antibiotic because I won't take something that antagonizes my Crohn's.

Sorry for the late reply, yes doxycycline is a very dangerous drug and should be avoided by everyone

There are uses for all abx
Even doxycycline ( Lyme disease -tick bite anyone - single dose wipes it out when given soon enough )

Infection that is not kept undercontrol or stopped can lead to sepsis and death
Which is why bacterial infections typical warrent stopping anti tnf alpha blockers such as humira:remicade so the immune system can fight the infection with the help of antibiotics

Every drug has a risk period none are without risks
Doctors try to balance these risks with the benefits the drugs will bring to the patient

Enough is not known about Ibd and the cause or many causes/triggers/genes/enviromental factors to date .
