Hi everyone,

I am wondering if anyone else has had this issue, and if it is related to Crohn's. I have 2 boils on my thigh that come and go, always in the same spot. It starts as a hard lump and then it swells and there is a large red area around it and is hot to the touch. After a while if I squeeze it (sorry, this is gross!) a bunch of pus and some blood will come out. I'll put some neosporin on it and it will go down but eventually come back. Could this be related to Crohn's? Should I ask my PCP or GI about it? I see my GI for a checkup on the 17th, is this something I should call about sooner?

Thanks!

Hi. I am not sure if it is related to Crohns Disease or not. You might want to see a dermatologist.

I get boils pretty regularly. when i get a boil i can gaurantee it will last weeks until it goes. And please dont squeeze it, i made that mistake and 2 years later i still have the scar! My GI said it is due to our systems being run down and being generally so ill. It must be, as i always get a obstruction or flare within weeks of getting a boil.

You really should see a dermatologist about it...one reason it may be coming back is there is infection left in there. Any boil or abscess should be treated by a doctor/dermatologist to make sure the underlying cause is taken care of.
