I've been flaring for awhile and my hands are getting pretty rough as far as being cracked, burning and peeling. I've been using Hydrocortisone 1% cream which has seemed to work in the past. But, I was wondering if there might be something a little stronger that might help. I also have some aveeno on hand as well.

Could you please tell me what creams or lotions those of you who have hand eczema use? Thank you for any suggestions:)

I know that you can get stronger Hydrocortisone (2% and 2.5%) to clear it up. Do you use emolients too?

I also use hydrocortisone 1 % and Aveeno products only due to eczema issues. They help for the most part but I feel like the more dry/cold it is, the less effect they have on me.

My doctor mentioned at one point trying Cerave which you can get at your local drugstore I think. I may be trying that out soon because I just hate looking at dry patchy skin.

I suffer from recurring dry skin/fungal rashes and the doctor seems to think that Eczema is the underlying cause. I've used 1% hydrocortisone with various antifungal and antibiotic agents mixed in, all of which have worked but as soon as i've stopped using them the rash has come back.

I didn't like the idea of steroid dependant skin so I stopped using the creams. I now supplement with Vitamin D for Crohn's but this seems to have had a very positive effect on my skin too, the rashes have died down and i'm able to keep on top of them simply by moisturising after showering and before bed. Obviously I can't gaurentee that it is the Vit D that is responsible, but I say if it aint broke don't fix it.

We use cerave cream ( love it) - you can get it at target Walmart etc

Scrub with nizol shampoo /wash - prescription from dermo
Then put some sodium cromolyn eye drops on it ( mast cell stabilizer ) - prescription from dermo
Then put cerave on it .

We do the same thing on DS 's face it works wonders for the remicade induced skin issues.
Ask your dermo about
You can also try wet wrapping for your hands it works for little kids and bad ezcema
.

I broke down and bought some Eucerin Intensive Repair that I found at work a couple of days ago. Supposedly one of the things it's supposed to do is relieve dry skin associated with hand eczema. It seems to help somewhat even though my hands are still pretty rough...

Hi, I get really bad eczema on my hands when my Crohn's is bad. Hydrocortisone on its own is only minimally effective but I get better results if I use an aloe vera gel as well. I have also got the cleaners at work to stop using any bleach based products. Hope this is helpful, and good luck.

CeraVe is really good for eczema.

Edited: Also, I've had good luck slathering my hands with bag balm (you can get it at most drugstores) and corn huskers lotion (also available at drugstores) and wearing cotton gloves to bed.

I love love love Cetaphil. I use the bar soap for shower, the liquid soap for face wash, the lotion (both the thinner facial lotion and the thicker stuff in the tub). I used to have horrible eczema problems, but using the Cetaphil has helped a ton. Started using it about 15 years ago and have used it ever since. If they made shampoo and conditioner I'd use that too! I use it for my kids too, the pediatrician said that I could use it for them when they were infants, that's how gentle it is.

I've been looking for the CeraVe online. Do any of you use the lotion? I know that the cream is usually thicker and better to use though, especially when your hands are that dry.

I got a hold of a $1 coupon and found it at Target. Unfortunately, they were out of the cream. So, this time I tried the lotion. So far I've only tried it a few times, but it seems to be working. Will keep you updated. Thanks for your info everyone:)

I know some people have issue with Melaleuca as a company, but I can't say enough about their Renew lotion. It has helped non-IBD DS with his eczema tremendously.
