Hi guys, I'm new to this. Just found this article online which I hope will be an interesting read. Stay strong!

I can't post the link due to admin matters. Just google crohns breakthrough by professor john Herman Taylor. It is an article on the dailymail.co.uk

I haven't read much about MAP, so I may be a little ignorant here. Would love to see if there is more evidence. While I do firmly believe there is a chance that bacteria could be part of the reason for attacks, all I see here is correlation and not causation. This doesn't say that the animals infected have crohn's, or an animal equivalent. Is there research to substantiate that this actually causes crohn's in people? This article says the doctor "believes" MAP causes crohn's. While I do hope this is true, there is a lot of really bad science going on everywhere right now. Holding a little hope, but still pretty sceptical. Besides, with the money that big companies are getting for medications to control crohn's, I am not sure they would voluntarily fund something that would make their medications redundant.

The infected animals have Johnes Disease, which is rampant in cattle. The intestines of cows with Johnes Disease look just like Crohn's in humans, and nothing else does. Doctor Crohn himself suspected this particular bacterium as the cause of Crohn's Disease, but it was impossible to culture with the technology now available. But with DNA testing they now know it is MAP causing the Johnes Disease. There is no approved test for MAP in humans. That is part of what Dr. Hermon-Taylor is working on -- plus a vaccine, which has already been shown effective in animals. He does not have enough funding to do a clinical trial in humans, which is a tragedy.

There's another thread in this sub forum with more information about the vaccine, funding was recently turned down, someone was kind enough to post a link to bbc, if those living in the uk contact bbc letting them know how desperate we are funding might be approved.

i,ve read loads of articles about health issues in this paper take with a large pinch of salt, theres a cure round the corner for everything

Well there have been people cured alrdy from anti-map therapy so it's feasible. And to clarify by "cured" I'm referring to sustained complete histological remission for many years without any trace of the disease. Though this result hasn't been seen in enough people, still if it's worked for even one person it's worth further research.
