I have an appointment with a dentist in a day or two to fill my cavities (long time due ). I was not able to take proper oral hygiene as I was in the hospital most of the time last year for my crohn's.

I am doing ok now...is it the right time to go? Is there any safe cavity filling for crohn's? I will discuss with my dentist abt my crohn's, surgeries and current medications.

Anything else to tk cr.....Plz advise.

I never had an issue going to the dentist be it getting fillings or having a tooth pulled. Only thing you really need to be careful about is any type of surgery if you're on a biologic medication such as Remicade or Humira etc. Then you'll want to talk to your doctor first and make sure everything is scheduled properly (shots/infusions are done at the right times before and after surgery).

I never heard of crohn's safe fillings or any complications. Crabby is right though that if one were on a biologic they should bring it up since you are more prone to infection and any oral procedure like cleaning could put you at more risk.

From your sig it seems like you are just on the immunosuppresors so may not be an issue but doesn't hurt to mention it.

I have regular check ups fortunately no cavities although my dentist is aware I have Crohn's and seems aware of how this affects any dental treatment I am also taking warfarin which also affects my treatment
