Did anyone take predisone while pregnant?

I flared pretty bad while I was pregnant, and I was on predisone for part of my pregnancy. My son is healthy, but he has some issues, such as sensory processing disorder and now he's having depression issues which are likely related to the SPD. One occupational therapist told me his SPD is due to my predisone use while pregnant (thanks for the mom guilt there!). So I'm wondering if other moms needed to take predisone while pregnant? If so, do your children have any issues? I honestly think this is how my son would be no matter what, and even if it is due to the predisone, at the time, that was what seemed like the best option.

I was on prednisone for two of my three pregnancies. For the second half of one pregnancy and the entirety of the other. Neither of those boys seem to have any issues, but my oldest has borderline ADD (and I took only Asacol while pregnant with him!) I researched prednisone when I had to take it and the only problems I found was an animal study which indicated an increase in cleft palate, but no effects noted in humans. I wonder what your occupational therapist based her statement on? Does she have studies or something she can use to back up what she said? Plenty of kids have SPD without their moms being on prednisone during pg.

Hi - I was on a low dose of Prednisolone whilst pregnant with my first son and i checked with my consultant before i considered getting pregnant and he said it was okay.
Now, i really dont want to worry anyone reading this, but at age 5, my beautiful son was diagnosed with a one in a million brain tumour, called a craniopharyngioma. It is believed that something went wrong during the early stages of his development where a cell or two went wrong and the tumour forms, but it is never found until years later when it starts pressing on surrounding structures. Taylor's was found when his eyesight in one eye started failing. Obviously at the time of his diagnosis i told all his docs that i had been on Prednisolone, but they didn't relate it, but i'm not so sure, but i guess i'll never know. I think i (and my husband) were just very unlucky ...............

I'm with Mapper. I want to know where this OT got her/his information! They have no business making you feel guilty for doing what you say you felt was the best option at the time.
